AIMS: Numerous experimental studies have shown that cellular therapy, including human dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs), is an attractive strategy for ischemic brain injury. Herein, we examined the effects of intravenous DPSC administration after transient middle cerebral artery occlusion in rats.
METHODS: Male Sprague-Dawley rats received a transient 90 min middle cerebral artery occlusion. DPSCs (1 × 106 cells) or vehicle were administered via the femoral vein at 0 h or 3 h after ischemia-reperfusion. Thirty two patients between 6 months and 14 years of age with tubercular meningitis were evaluated for brain stem auditory evoked response (BAER) and Visual evoked responses (VER), within 7 days of admission.
