The results of experimental embryology indicate that hypospadias may result from deficient fetal testicular function. In view of these findings it seemed of interest to study hypospadic patients with special reference to pathogenetic mechanisms which might have interfered with testicular differentiation or function or both during fetal life.

Isolated subclavial artery is a rare congenital anomaly. Herein we discuss a patient with isolated left subclavian artery and bilateral patent arterial ducts who underwent successful repair. We also describe the detailed anatomy of both recurrent nerves in this condition and embryology of the anomaly.

A unique case of truncus arteriosus communis associated with mitral valve and left ventricular hypoplasia, but without ventricular septal defect (VSD), is described. The embryology of this anatomy is considered. The neonatal hemodynamics and the clinical implications of this rare combination of defects are discussed.

Bronchopulmonary sequestration with associated nonimmune hydrops has been previously reported with generally poor prognosis for the neonate. We report a case of bronchopulmonary sequestration and associated pleural effusion successfully managed with a transthoracic catheter placement. The embryology and clinical pathophysiology of bronchopulmonary sequestration are discussed.

The authors report a case of reversed intestinal rotation and review the embryology, clinical presentation, and radiographic findings of this disorder. Although this developmental anomaly of the bowel is rare, it may be diagnosed by the distinctive position, course, and narrowing of the transverse colon.

A patient with a so-called 'butterfly vertebra' is presented. Radiography, including computed tomography, is shown. The embryology and pathogenesis of the vertebral column with respect to vertebral abnormalities are discussed, with special reference to butterfly vertebra. Finally, attention is paid to the clinical manifestations.

A 4 1/2-year-old girl had an unusual congenital defect of her left eye which we have elected to call a unilateral pseudo-synophthalmos. We have found no other such case reported. We review the case history and findings, discuss the embryology, and explore the possible embryologic explanations for such an anomaly.

Omphalocele and gastroschisis appear, by virtue of their differences in postnatal findings and embryological development, to be different entities. An hypothesis concerning the genesis of gastroschisis is presented which is consistent with observed embryologic sequential change and known teratogenic possibilities. The apparent increase in number of cases of gastroschisis and the frequency of omphalocele warrant further experimental study of their pathogenesis, preferably in primates.

The essay introduces how Paul A. Weiss (1898-1989) analyzed his data on neuronal outgrowth and axonal transport, supported by constriction experiments of thousands of living mature nerve fibers. At the University of Chicago his group measured the steady proximo-distal flow of nerve fibers. To visualize the data he used tissue culturing, light microscopy, radioactive tracers, time-lapse motion pictures and electronmicroscopy. The work resulted in the discovery of fasciculation of outgrowing nerves and a computation of the rate of axonal transport, published in a classical article in 1948. He st

PURPOSE: We aimed to discuss the possible role of developmental embryologic factors in neural crest cells in the aetiology of keratoconus and Fuchs' heterochromic iridocyclitis by presenting this case.
CASE REPORT: We diagnosed bilateral keratoconus and unilateral Fuchs' heterochromic iridocyclitis in a 19 year old women complaining of progressively blurring vision in her left eye. We also examined most of her first and second degree relatives. One niece had FHI in addition to a choroidal nevus in the inferior temporal quadrant of her left eye.
DISCUSSION: Regarding the common embryological

Duplication cyst is a rare congenital malformation. Enterogenous cyst are foregut duplication cyst with or without a vertebral defect. We report a case of a 36hr old neonate with mediastinal enterogenous cyst associated with vertebral defects. The embryology, differentials, and management of enterogenous cyst in the newborn have been discussed.

A rare case of single ectopic ureter opening into a blind vagina with renal dysplasia and associated uterovaginal duplication is reported. The findings are interesting from the clinical diagnostic viewpoint and also contribute to our knowledge of the embryology of the female genitourinary system, especially concerning the origin of the vagina.

The onset of symptoms from a congenital posterolateral (Bochdalek Hernia) defect is rare in the adult. We are reporting a 25-year-old female with a previously asymptomatic Bochdalek hernia who presented with acute intestinal obstruction. The abnormal embryology, pathophysiology, and clinical manifestations of this condition in the adult are discussed.

The operative management of oesophageal atresia is reviewed. The operative technique and the approach to management, based on antomical classification of oesophageal atresia and classification into 3 different risk groups, are stressed. The embryology, aetiology, clinical features, symptoms and signs and radiological diagnosis of this condition are also briefly discussed.

After a short description of mediastinal anatomy and embryology, the authors illustrate the division of the mediastinum, based on criteria of either surgical anatomy or radiological anatomy. Lastly, they discuss the topographical distribution of the mediastinal masses in anterior, visceral, and posterior compartments of the mediastinum.

On the posterior aspect of the anterior abdominal wall, there are four kinds of "fine" ligaments. They are: the round ligament of the liver, … them. Unique symptoms such as umbilical discharge and/or location of pathologies relating to their embryology are important in diagnosing their pathologies. In this article, we comprehensively review the anatomy, embryology, and pathology of the "fine" abdominal ligaments and highlight representative cases with emphasis on clinical significance.
