Peripheral ossifying fibroma.

Intraoral ossifying fibromas have been described in the literature since the late 1940s. Peripheral ossifying fibroma (POF) is usually a fibroma of the gingival which shows areas of calcification or ossification. It is a nonneoplastic enlargement of gingiva. Due to its clinical and histopathological similarities, some POFs are believed to develop initially as a pyogenic granuloma that undergoes fibrous maturation and subsequent calcification. It has been suggested that POF represents a separate clinical entity rather than a transitional form of pyogenic granuloma or irritation fibroma. This pa

Lobular Capillary Hemangioma in a Young Child: Diagnostic Dilemma and Management.

Pyogenic granuloma (lobular capillary hemangioma) is a common reactive tumour-like lesion of the oral cavity arising in response to various stimuli such as chronic local irritation, drug intake, and hormonal changes. The clinical features are similar to other reactive oral lesions such as peripheral giant cell granuloma (PGCG) and therefore the definitive diagnosis depends on histopathologic evaluation. We report a case of a three-year-old Indian boy presenting with a three-month history of a 3.3×1.4×0.8 cm large sessile, lobular, soft-tissue mass of the left mandibular posterior gingival regi

Giant pseudomalignant granuloma.

A patient who developed rapidly growing, multicentric, cutaneous tumors clinically resembling pyogenic granuloma is reported. In spite of the fact that the local lesions expanded rapidly and contained cytologically "malignant" cells which appeared to invade dermal vessels, the patient had a benign clinical course. The differential diagnosis of "giant pseudomalignant granuloma" is discussed.

Evaluation of clinico-pathological reports and recurrence of 20 cases of localized gingival overgrowths.

The aim of the present study was to assess the clinico-histopathological picture and to examine the recurrence of various localized hyperplastic gingival growths after their surgical treatment. Twenty patients of localized hyperplastic gingival outgrowth were evaluated in the present clinico-histopathological study. The data regarding age, sex, location, size, and duration of lesion were summarized. After 4 weeks of initial therapy, an excision of the growth with conventional flap surgery was performed. The excised tissues were sent for histopathological analysis, and the lesions were reclassi

Solitary giant molluscum contagiosum of the sole.

Molluscum contagiosum of the sole is extremely rare and only three cases have been reported in the literature. We report a solitary giant molluscum contagiosum on the left sole of a 5-year-old boy, which should be clinically differentiated from plantar wart, eccrine poroma, epidermal cyst, foreign body granuloma, cryptococcal infection, and pyogenic granuloma.

[Neonatal botriomycoma of the tongue (a case report)].

INTRODUCTION: The botryomycoma is a benign tumor that develops as a response to a local trauma. Generally, it occurs in the fingers, the face and the oral cavity. It is often easily recognized. However, the diagnosis between this tumor and other oral tumors, whether benign or malignant, may be difficult in some cases. We report a particular case of a botryomycoma that occurred with no history of a trauma at an earlier age in the tongue, which is an unusual site for this tumor. CASE REPORT: A 7-month-old infant presented with a polypoid and sessile swelling on the dorsal side of the tongue. Th

[Angiolymphoid hyperplasia with eosinophilia or Kimura's disease].

A rare affection of unknown etiology that is benign but frequently recurrent, Kimura's disease involves infiltration of the dermis and hypodermis usually of the face. Documented data exists describing clinical findings and results of histopathology that are analogous but are grouped under other names: angiolymphoid hyperplasia with eosinophilia, pyogenic pseudogranuloma, atypical pyogenic granuloma. A case followed up for 13 years is reported.

An Uncommon Case of Trueperella pyogenes Infection in an Adult Backyard Rooster and a Retrospective Study; 2000-20.

Trueperella pyogenes is an opportunistic Gram-positive bacterium that induces purulent lesions and abscesses in cattle, small ruminants, and swine. In birds, T. pyogenes infections have been linked to lameness and osteomyelitis in turkeys (Phasianidae) and hepatic fibriscess in turkeys and pigeons (Columbidae). An 18-mo-old backyard rooster with a history of progressive emaciation was submitted to the California Animal Health and Food Safety (CAHFS) laboratory system. At necropsy, unusual numerous miliary granulomas were identified, primarily in the spleen, but granulomas were also observed in

A Rare Case of Nodular Fasciitis of the Hard Palate with Complete Clinical Resolution.

Nodular fasciitis is a rare, benign, and self-limiting proliferation of fibroblasts and myofibroblasts. It is occasionally encountered in the head and neck region, but only a few cases were reported in the palate (1-3). Case: We report the case of a 24-year-old female patient presenting with an exophytically growing, pedunculated palatal mass. According to the patient, the lesion had developed overnight and measured 12 mm in diameter at clinical presentation two weeks later. An initial incisional biopsy was interpreted as a pyogenic granuloma. The lesion then enlarged to 30 × 20 mm within thre

Pilot study of a glue-less, suture-less amniotic membrane for pterygium excision.

PURPOSE: Pterygium is a non-cancerous, fibrovascular growth of the bulbar conjunctiva that can cause visual disturbance, ocular pain, and cosmetic concerns. Surgical management is required in certain cases, which consists of excising the pterygium and associated Tenon's, then overlaying the bare sclera with an autograft or amniotic membrane using glue or sutures. The purpose of this study is to assess outcomes of pterygium repair using a newly developed self-adhesive amniotic membrane that does not require glue or sutures for fixation. METHODS: Chart review of pterygium excision using a new s

Clinical case of botryomycome fulminant at the center of diagnostic and treatment of tuberculosis of Baleng (West - Cameroon).

Botryomycome also called pyogenic granuloma, is an inflammatory tumor of the skin and mucous membranes often caused by superinfection of minor traumatism. Its uniqueness lies in its granulomatous organization in which each granulation contains bacteria and the predominance of many newly formed blood vessels, with the lights on variables ratings and a turgid endothelium responsible for the ulcero-hemorragic appearance. This delicate condition poses a real problem of treatment which included: an appropriate antibiotherapy, surgical removal or electrocoagulation which, until today is more difficu

Amelanotic vulvar melanoma: a case report.

A 14-year-old girl stated that she has vulvar pruritus, pain, and bleeding and underwent a complete gynecological evaluation during which a suspicious 2-cm achromic lesion on her vulva was observed. Initially, it was suspected to be a pyogenic granuloma, in relation to the patient's age. A biopsy was taken, and a histopathological diagnosis of amelanotic mucosal melanoma was made. Pyogenic granuloma is a reactive hyperproliferation vascular response to trauma or other stimuli. It predominantly occurs in the second decade of life in young females, in relation to the vascular effects of female h

Localized bacillary angiomatosis in the oral cavity: observations about a neoplasm with atypical behavior. Description of a case and review of the literature.

Bacillary angiomatosis is a rather frequent infectious pathology appearing mainly in the skin but can also affect the liver, spleen, heart, bones, lungs, muscles, central nervous system and other organs. The localization of the lesion in the oral cavity is rather rare, as it is evident in the literature. Bacillary angiomatosis can be clinically similar to the Kaposi's sarcoma and histologically confused with angiosarcoma, epitheloid hemangioma and pyogenic granuloma. A case of bacillary angiomatosis of the oral cavity in an immuno-competent patient is described. The high tendency to relapse, t
