GP trainees and MMR immunisation.

Three months after the launch of the MMR programme in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland, a postal questionnaire was sent to all GP scheme trainees in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. The response rate was 81%. All trainees were enthusiastic about promoting MMR immunisation; with 27% favouring compulsory immunisation. 9% had never seen a patient with measles. This did not alter their attitude towards the beneficial effects of MMR immunisation. Of pre-practice year trainees 26% felt their level of knowledge of immunisation was inadequate, 59% claimed to have receiv

Dysphagia Management in Iran: Knowledge, Attitude and Practice of Healthcare Providers.

Despite the remarkable burden of dysphagia, appropriate multidisciplinary management is lacking in Iran and patients are often deprived of effective treatments. Obtaining a full understanding of knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) of healthcare providers is necessary to determine the gaps in improvement of the quality of care for dysphagic patients. A questionnaire was designed covering demographic information and the parameters of KAP. Face and content validity were determined. Test-retest reliability confirmed that the questionnaire scores are stable over time (r = 0.77, p value < 0.01).

[Knowledge, believes and practices of physicians from Cienfuegos in relation to intestinal amebiasis: results of an intervention].

In a study conducted in the province of Cienfuegos, it was proved by using immunological and biomolecular tools that intestina amebiasis in that province was an overdimensioned health problem. A survey on knowledge, perceptions and practices applied to those physicians related to the diagnosis, treatment and control of this parasitosis showed that the overdimensioning may be associated with an inadequate perception of the problem and with a marked lack of knowledge about important aspects of this entity. To contribute to the solution of the ovedimensioning and of its consequences, a set of act

Qualitative exploration of barriers to alcohol management in patients with chronic disease in a regional setting.

Chronic diseases are a major contributor to the burden of disease in Australia. Alcohol consumption is similar in people with chronic disease and the general public, and may contribute to management challenges. In regional Australia, there are limited options for the management of excess alcohol consumption, so most of this burden falls to general practitioners. This study explored how staff in general practices are managing alcohol in patients with chronic disease with a view to determining what additional services may be appropriate. Brief interviews were conducted with doctors, nurses and a

"If there is no data, how do we improve?" Exploring health workers' perspective on stillbirth recording in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.

BACKGROUND: Health workers play a critical role in documenting the estimated 2 million stillbirths that occur annually. From the moment a stillbirth occurs, a health worker is responsible for recording the birth outcome. The reliability of stillbirth data for informing global and national-level strategies on stillbirths depends on the information recorded by the health worker at the point of care. This study aimed to gain insights into the health worker practices and challenges related to stillbirth recording and reporting. METHODS: The qualitative study explored three objectives using an a pr
