Penile cancer requires careful clinical follow-up. Therefore, when a patient presented with a florid papillary lesion at his penectomy site, it was immediately biopsied. The histologic examination, however, revealed a benign angiokeratoma with no evidence of recurrent cancer. Angiokeratoma on the scrotum after treatment for carcinoma of the penis has only been documented once. BACKGROUND: Central neurogenic hyperventilation is a rare condition with poorly understood pathophysiology.
OBJECTIVE: To describe a patient with central neurogenic hyperventilation caused by an infiltrative brainstem lymphoma.
CONCLUSION: Based on analysis of this patient and other case reports, we propose that central neurogenic hyperventilation is uniquely the result of infiltrative tumors that stimulate pontine respiratory centers and central chemoreceptors.

A case of meningioma arising in a mature cystic teratoma of the ovary in a 60-year-old woman is described. The tumor was located in the right ovary, and salpingo-oophorectomy was performed. The right ovary was 10 x 10 x 8 cm in size and contained an unilocular cyst. In the wall, a solid nodule measuring 3 x 3 x 2 cm was noted. There is an increased incidence of second noncarcinoid neoplasms in patients with carcinoid tumors. This article reports a case of a synchronous malignant ileal carcinoid tumor in a patient with an adenocarcinoma of the sigmoid colon. This report illustrates the increased association of carcinoid tumors with other gastrointestinal malignancies.

We studied 283 meningiomas seen at the University of Kansas, Kansas City, from 1948 through 1984, identifying all additional nonmeningeal malignancies and primary brain tumors in these patients and calculating the expected number of additional tumors by the use of a person-year method from age and sex-matched cancer incidence data. White sponge nevus (WSN) is a benign hereditary lesion of the mucous membranes. DNA extracted from a biopsy specimen of oral WSN was assayed for the presence of DNA sequences homologous to human papillomavirus (HPV) types 1, 2, 4, 6, 11, 13, 16, and 18 by Southern blot hybridization. Only HPV-16 homologous DNA sequences were detected at a copy number of approximately 200 to 250 genome copies per diploid cell. A mediastinal squamous cell carcinoma and thyroid carcinoma were found in an aged horse. Clinical signs consisted of bilateral thyroid gland enlargement, chronic cough, and mild respiratory distress. The neoplasms were not treated. Squamous cell carcinoma is a common neoplasm in horses, but not in the cranial portion of the mediastinum. Thyroid carcinomas in horses are uncommon. This combination of neoplasms is rare and may have been associated with a defect in the immune system.

We report on two cases of congenital primitive neuroectodermal tumors located in the posterior cranial fossa. They were symptomatic at birth with occlusive internal hydrocephalus. Clinical investigations had failed to diagnose brain tumors and had led to the suggestion of maldevelopment syndromes. In one of these children a malignant rhabdoid tumor of the kidney was operated at the age of 4 1/2 months. Autopsy revealed medulloblastoma combined with a malignant rhabdoid tumor of the kidney in one case and ependymoblastoma in the other.

Five patients with diagnosed breast cancer who developed meningiomas are reported. The literature contains reports of an additional 25 such patients. Some authors have noted hormonal sensitivity and the presence of hormone receptors in some meningiomas. Because breast cancer is a common tumor of women, it is probable that any association between breast cancer and meningioma is fortuitous.
