Keratitis treatment outcome is usually dependent on the targeted treatment of the cause. We want to present a small corneal ulcer of unidentified origin that progressed into corneal melting and resulted in corneal perforation. BACKGROUND: An adolescent boy aged 17 years presented with sudden onset of visual impairment, which was rapidly diagnosed as bilateral anterior uveitis by an ophthalmologist. A systemic review noted episodes of nonbloody diarrhea, weight loss of 3 kg and a diminished appetite during the previous 10 months. After 8.5 years a rhesus monkey with bilateral hydrogel (Permalens) intracorneal implants was evaluated by light microscopy and transmission electron microscopy to determine the long-term effects of a synthetic plastic upon the primate cornea. We analyzed the relationship between the hemodynamics of the anterior ciliary artery and intraocular pressure (IOP) by measuring the pressure of the artery with a modified pressure chamber method and the diameter of the artery on color photographs taken with a photo slit lamp (Zeiss). Twenty-seven young adult patients with rubeola were evaluated during the acute contagious phase of their disease. Koplik's spots were present in all patients. Conjunctivitis was present in 15 of the 27 (56%), and photophobia was present in 14 of the 27 (52%). Bilateral epithelial keratitis was present in all 27 patients.
