Priapism is defined as an erection lasting greater than 4 hours. It is grouped into three subtypes: ischemic (low flow), nonischemic (high flow), and stuttering priapism. Tourette syndrome, a condition first recognized in 1825, is characterized by the presence of multiple motor tics and one or more phonic tics. Individuals with Tourette syndrome may also demonstrate fluency failures in their speech. Genetic strategies appropriate for the analysis of childhood behavioral traits are reviewed. The problem of etiologic heterogeneity is discussed, and suggestions for minimizing its effect are offered. INTRODUCTION: Amitriptyline (AMT) is a tricyclic antidepressant. In this review, we evaluate the clinical and epidemiological profile, pathological mechanisms and management of AMT-associated movement disorders.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: A search for relevant reports in 6 databases was performed. Studies that reported patients developed only ataxia or tremor after AMT use were excluded.

A large nonclinical sample of left-handed and right-handed subjects completed laterality and medical health questionnaires. The group of left-handed subjects showed a raised incidence of birth complications and learning disorders whereas no differences were found for birth order and maternal age.
