Valproic acid (VA) is an antiepileptic drug, and frequently prescribed in pediatrics. VA overdose results in central nervous system depression, insufficient respiration, tachycardia, hypotension, hepatotoxicity, and electrolyte derangement. BACKGROUND: Prussian Blue (PB), ferric hexacyanoferrate is indicated for (oral) treatment of internal contamination with radioisotopes of cesium or thallium. Cyanide is 35-40% of PB's molecular composition, thus cyanide may be released during transit through the digestive tract under physiological pH. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration investigated the issue of cyanide release prior to drug approval to ensure the drug's benefits exceeded risks.

BACKGROUND: Lead poisoning is rare. Intake of lead shots may cause damage of the bone marrow, the nervous system, the liver, the kidneys and the endocrine organs.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: We present two patients who had taken approximately 120 grams of lead shots. They developed asthenia, nausea and abdominal pain. We tried to remove the lead shots with fluids, laxatives and colonoscopy, but ultimately surgical intervention had to be performed. The patients were also treated with dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA).

Salicylates are often used in clinical practice as antiplatelets as well as analgesics. Its overdose is not uncommon due to its easy availability over the counter. We describe a case of voluntary self-injection with Large Animal Immobilon, a veterinary anaesthesia product containing etorphine, a very strong opioid, and acepromazine, a phenothiazine. This resulted in cardiorespiratory arrest and the need for sustained haemodynamic support after resuscitation.
