Urinary cortisol and cortisone excretion were measured after glycyrrhizin administration (225 mg/day, per os) for seven consecutive days in five healthy volunteers. The ratio of plasma cortisol and cortisone during hydrocortisone (0.6 mg/kg i.v.) infusion was also examined. This paper describes the salient features of a new model for chronic cryptococcal meningitis in cortisone-treated rabbits. Rabbits were injected by subcutaneous, intraperitoneal and intravenous routes with suspensions of motile zoospores of a Pythium sp. isolated from a subcutaneous lesion of a horse in north Queensland.
