Mullerian anomalies are malformations that affect the embryological development of paramesonephric ducts and are associated with multiple urogenital defects due to shared embryology, including VACTERL association, which coexists in about one-third of these patients. We report a rare case of a unicornuate noncommunicating horn uterus with a rudimentary second horn in a known case of VACTERL association in a 16-year-old girl.

The trachea serves as a conduit for inspiration and expiration of air; apparatus for phonation; mucociliary escalator for airway clearance and pulmonary defense; and allows for the more distal exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide. Each of these functions is a result of the embryologic development and resultant structural anatomy of the trachea. The purpose of this article is to provide a review of tracheal embryology and anatomy, including endoscopic anatomy and airway imaging techniques.

Umbilical and periumbilical disorders may present with a diverse group of anomalies and reflect the developmental embryological events they result from. A rare occurrence in a newborn of an umbilicus with an umbilical polyp together with an urachal sinus associated with a supraumbilical abnormal skin area known as epigastric cleft is reported herein, to help to elucidate embryological steps of anterior midline fusion defects and urachal remnants.

The hairy polyp of the nasopharynx is a rare but potential cause of airway obstruction in the newborn. A case of hairy polyp arising off the Eustachian tube is reported. Only eight prior cases of Eustachian tube origin have been described in the literature. The terminology and embryology of these tumors are included in the discussion. The site of the tumor and histopathology of this case supports the embryologic origin of a congenital inclusion cyst.

We present the case of a male infant at a gestational age of 41 weeks who presented with a right congenital diaphragmatic hernia. During surgical exploration, right hepatopulmonary fusion was encountered. We review the existing literature on this problem, describe a novel surgical approach, and review the embryology of this complex lesion.

A patient with unsuspected bilateral persistent sciatic arteries (PSAs) underwent angiography following a gunshot wound to the right thigh. A hypoplastic superficial femoral artery associated with this rare vascular anomaly was misdiagnosed as being traumatically occluded. Pitfalls in the diagnosis of PSA as well as the embryology, clinical features, and complications are discussed.

This report is based on a series of 21 patients with a relatively rare anorectal malformation. They either had two abnormal tracts leading off from the terminal bowel or otherwise normal bowel coexisting with one abnormal tract or even two abnormal tracts. A case of complete bladder duplication with urethra duplication, diphallus, anorectal malformation and rightsided renal agensis with ipsilateral gonadal agenesisis was reported because of its rarity. Complete duplication of the entire large bowel with partial ileal involvement is very rare and diagnosis can often be difficult as illustrated by this case report. We also review the other clinical associations of this rare condition and briefly discuss the embryology of duplications of the gastrointestinal tract.

A case of proximal female hypospadias with urethral atresia is reported, and a nosological definition of this rare congenital anomaly is proposed. Four new cases of carotid body tumors are reported, all familial, including 2 patients with bilateral tumors. The embryology, physiology, pathology, natural history, and treatment of these rare tumors are reviewed. It is recommended that all carotid body tumors be excised unless there are contraindicating medical or technical reasons.

A few weeks after tonsillectomy two patients presented with recurring pharyngeal abscesses, and a fistula and a cyst were identified as the probable reasons for these. The embryology and differential diagnosis is discussed. The Grisel Syndrome and its presentation following tonsil remnant infection is demonstrated in another patient.
