Three eyes with the Molteno glaucoma implant (one eye with epithelial downgrowth, one eye with iridocorneal endothelial syndrome, and one eye with aphakia and glaucoma) were enucleated two to six years after implantation. We operated on 59 eyes with advanced neovascular glaucoma (37 eyes in diabetic patients and 22 eyes in patients with central retinal vein occlusion) using a trabeculectomy technique that includes a simple silicone tube as the draining element. Mean (+/- 1 S.D.) intraocular pressure preoperatively was 57 +/- 8.7 mm Hg. During follow-up periods ranging from one to five years, the mean intraocular pressure decreased to 27 +/- 16.5 mm Hg. PURPOSE: Case report describing a patient who developed intracranial extension of a uveal melanoma through the optic nerve.
METHODS: We reviewed the patient's medical history and images. A 41-year-old woman who was blind in one eye had a uveal melanoma that extended through the optic nerve into the optic chiasm and involved the hypophysis. The patient then developed metastasis.
RESULTS: The patient developed uveal melanoma extension into the optic chiasm through the optic nerve resulting in a visual field defect in the fellow eye.
CONCLUSION: Uveal melanoma extension through the optic nerve

During a recent four-year period, 21 patients were referred to the Oncology Service at Wills Eye Hospital with previously unsuspected posterior uveal melanomas in an eye that had been operated upon for a unilateral cataract. Five eyes containing choroidal melanomas were found, on histopathologic examination, to have traumatic episcleritis with foreign-body granulomas and scleral edema underlying the area of tumor. This reaction was clearly correlated with phosphorus 32 testing that had been performed one to four weeks earlier. In all cases, enucleation had been delayed for logistic reasons. PURPOSE: Describe presumed microbial keratitis cases resulting in evisceration/enucleation from 2012 to 2016 in Sydney, Australia.

Traumatic eyeball luxation is a rare clinical condition with a dramatic presentation. Here, we describe a unique case of traumatic globe luxation and complete optic nerve transection caused by heavy object compression. A 45-year-old male automobile mechanic was injured when a truck slipped from its supports, crushing his head and face. On arrival, his right eyeball was obviously displaced anteriorly and he had no light perception. Computed tomography revealed complex frontal bone and facial fractures with underlying brain contusion in addition to complete transection of the right optic nerve.

PURPOSE: To verify if a Medpor porous polyethylene orbital implant (PPOI) (Porex Surgical, Atlanta, GA, U.S.A.), once vascularized, will tolerate a partially exposed titanium screw on its anterior surface.
