INTRODUCTION: The resolution rate of prenatal urinary tract dilation (UTD) has been documented in several retrospective studies. The present study analyzed prospective observational registry data, with the aim of determining time to resolution among patients prenatally identified with mild postnatal UTD.

BACKGROUND: Obstructed hemivagina and ipsilateral renal anomaly syndrome is a Müllerian duct anomaly characterized by uterine didelphys, obstructed hemivagina, and ipsilateral renal anomalies.
CASE: A 12-year-old girl with a history of right renal agenesis presented to the emergency department with abdominal pain, dysuria, and urinary retention. Imaging identified a uterine didelphys with a large obstructed right hemivagina compressing the left ureter, causing hydronephrosis. She underwent vaginal septum resection for curative treatment.

Lupus cystitis is uncommon in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Lupus cystitis is usually associated with hydronephrosis. To our knowledge, it is considered to be due to distal ureteral obstruction at the ureterovesical junction. METHODS: The etiology and diagnosis were retrospectively studied in 141 middle-aged and elderly patients with hydronephrosis in recent 10 years.
RESULT: 59 patients had ureterolithiasis, 51 ureteric cancer, 11 ureteric tuberculosis, 9 UPJ stricture, 6 uretero-cyst and 5 ureteric polyp.

A sixty-year-old woman visited our hospital with a complaint of left flank pain. Laboratory data showed a high level of serum CA19-9. In the period 1982 to 1985, 73 placements of catheter shunts for fetal obstructive uropathy and 44 drainage procedures for obstructive hydrocephalus were reported to a voluntary international registry. In an experimental animal model of partial ureteral obstruction, three different modalities--excretory urography, real-time ultrasound and magnetic resonance--were used for imaging of the unilateral hydronephrotic rabbit kidney. Urography demonstrated well the anatomy of the renal pelvis, the site and the degree of obstruction. Real-time ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging were both capable of demonstrating compartments of renal parenchyma in addition to the pelveocaliceal dilatation.
