We report the case of a teenage male who had a slip and fall from a motorcycle and sustained injury to his left knee. A clinicoradiological evaluation revealed a closed displaced osteochondral fragment of the posterolateral tibial plateau. CASE: A 30-year-old man was in a motorcycle accident resulting in an avulsion fracture of the tibial insertion of the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL). After 19 months of nonoperative treatment, the patient presented with a nonunion and symptoms of pain and instability. He was treated with an open repair with screw fixation through a posterior approach. CASE: A healthy 41-year-old man presented after a motorcycle collision resulting in polytrauma and underwent hip arthroscopy for removal of loose bodies after initial stabilization of pelvic, acetabular, and ipsilateral ankle fractures. We report an unusual periocular injury in a 19-year-old motorcycle rider during an accident. The patient had lacerations on the right upper and lower eyelids and the globe was enucleated en bloc. Perilunate fracture-dislocation is rare. We report the case of a 24-year-old male who fell from his motorcycle and presented with a transverse lunate fracture with perilunate ligament damage. The initial diagnosis based on X-rays was confirmed by CT scan. A dorsal approach was used to obtain good reduction, double screw fixation and ligament reinsertion protected by temporary K-wires. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case of transverse lunate fracture within perilunate fracture-dislocation. The patient returned to normal activities after 6 months.

A retrospective study of 54 consecutive cases was done to evaluate severity of trauma caused by three-wheel motor vehicles. Skeletal trauma predominated (22 of 54 patients [41%]). Two deaths were reported (4%), as were numerous other injuries. Men were injured more frequently (46 of 54 [85%]) than women. Riders seldom wear protective helmets (two of 54 [4%]), thus contributing to severity of injury. The injury pattern differs from that reported in motorcycle accidents. Specific recommendations are made that address these problems.

Eighteen persons (average age 12.4 years) with injuries from skateboard accidents were admitted between 1 March to 5 June, 1977--4.4% of all accidents and 7.5% of all sports accidents treated during this interval. These kinds of accidents are now in fourth place as to frequency, after accidents during play (81), bicycling (45), football (35) and motorcycling (28). To avoid skateboard accidents attention must be paid to technically high-grade equipment, reasonable skill and training, and restriction of skateboarding to enclosed areas, as well as protective clothing.
