We report a case of squamous cell carcinoma of renal pelvis associated with giant hydronephrosis. A 71-year-old woman presented to our hospital with a complaint of abdominal fullness due to the right giant hydronephrosis. Although the diagnosis of her hydronephrosis was made about 20 years ago at another hospital, it had been left untreated. Computed tomography showed the right hydronephrosis of 20 x 20 x 25 cm in diameter and no evidence of tumor or calculus in the right urinary tract. Carcinosarcomas are rare biphasic malignant neoplasms with an epithelial and a spindle cell component. We present a 62-year-old man with a history of noticeably abdominal distension, proved by surgery to be caused by carcinosarcoma of the renal pelvis and urinary bladder, occupying the entire left abdominal flank. We also illustrate the appearance of this rare entity on sonography and computed tomography.

Thirty patients younger than 19 years with malignant bone tumors of the pelvis were treated by limb salvage surgery between 1970 and 1998. Intestinal metaplasia of renal pelvis occurs uncommonly and is usually secondary to persistent chronic irritation or inflammation. It is considered to be precursor of adenocarcinoma. A case of horse-shoe kidney which showed extensive intestinal metaplasia and focal severe dysplasia in the renal pelvis is being presented. The metaplastic change in this case is being attributed to persistent inflammation due to more chances of stasis in horse-shoe kidney coupled with renal calculi.

A case of mucus-producing papillary adenocarcinoma of the renal pelvis associated with multiple renal calculi in a 16-year-old male is reported. The majority of the tumor cells contained large, round or cone-shaped, vimentin-positive intracytoplasmic inclusions, which exhibited some morphological and immunohistochemical resemblance to inclusions found in malignant rhabdoid tumor of the kidney. An intracytoplasmic accumulation of mucus was also noted in some tumor cells. The patient is free from recurrence and metastasis after a nephrectomy.

PURPOSE: To describe the MR findings of the pelvis in the early post-partum period, after vaginal delivery or cesarean section.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Fifteen asymptomatic patients were imaged using a 1.5 Tesla MR unit between 1 and 7 days following delivery. Eight patients had a vaginal delivery, and seven patients had a cesarean section.

We present the case of a 65-year-old woman with vascular compression of the renal pelvis, causing calyectasis. The diagnosis was a subtype of Fraley's syndrome. The cause of compression was concluded to be arteriosclerotic change of both the renal artery and the abdominal aorta.

The clinicopathologic feature of one carcinosarcoma of the renal pelvis is reported. The tumor occurred in a 51-year-old woman with a long standing history of renal calculi. The epithelial component was consistent with squamous cell carcinoma, whereas the sarcomatous component was composed of pleomorphic spindle cells. The immunohistochemical studies demonstrated obvious epithelial and mesenchymal reactivity respectively. The tumor progressed rapidly with widespread metastases and the patient died one month after operation.
