[A differentiated approach to management of small-pelvis varicosis in women].

In our clinic, we examined and treated a total of 32 women presenting with small-pelvis varicosis (SPV) and suffering from chronic pelvic pain appearing after prolonged static loads and physical activity, dysuric impairments, dyspareunia, and painful hypermenorrhoea. A Doppler ultrasonographic study and phlebography revealed SPV in them too. Appropriate treatment was carried out in a differentiated manner depending upon the stage of the disease and degree of clinical manifestations. Eighteen women with stage 1-2a SPV underwent comprehensive conservative treatment including venotropic preparati…

Post-operative thromboembolism in neurosurgery. A study on the prophylactic effect of calf muscle stimulation plus dextran compared to low-dose heparin.

This study compares the safety and effectiveness of two methods for the prophylaxis of post-operative thromboembolism in neurosurgical patie … eneral anaesthesia were included. The 125:I-fibrinogen uptake test (FUT) was used for screening and phlebography for verification of deep venous thrombosis (DVT). 122 patients entered the study and 104 completed the prophylactic protocol, 58 in group A and 46 in group B. The two groups were comparable according to pre-operative data and distribution of diagnos …

Blood hemoglobin: a possible predictor of central venous catheter-related thrombosis in parenteral nutrition.

The biochemical records of 43 patients given nutritional support via a central venous catheter (CVC) for between 7 and 111 days (mean 28 days) without anticoagulant therapy were reviewed. On completion of the parenteral nutrition, phlebography was performed via the CVC. Patients developing CVC-related thrombosis (22/43, 51%) were assigned to group I and those without this phlebographic finding (21/43, 49%) to group II. The blood (B-) hemoglobin concentration before catheterization was higher in group I than in group II, the values being 121 +/- 16 (mean +/- SD) and 106 +/- 13 g/liter, respecti…

Iodixanol-induced acute kidney injury and multi-organ complications via alternative excretion: A case report and mechanism exploration.

OBJECTIVE: To report a rare case of vicarious contrast material excretion (VCME) following iodixanol administration, leading to acute kidney injury (AKI) and multi-organ complications, and to explore the underlying mechanisms. CASE PRESENTATION: A 71-year-old female underwent lower limb venography with intravenous iodixanol. Post-procedure, she developed AKI, followed by acute pancreatitis, hepatic hemorrhage, and hemoperitoneum. Imaging revealed contrast accumulation in the gallbladder and biliary tract, consistent with VCME. INTERVENTION AND OUTCOME: The patient was managed with hemodialys

Pulmonary Vein in a Pinch.

The pulmonary veins normally drain into the left atrium, with the superior pulmonary veins typically situated anterior and inferior to the right pulmonary arteries. However, anomalies can happen. We encountered an exceedingly rare pulmonary vascular anomaly for a patient presenting with atypical chest pain, where the right superior pulmonary vein aberrantly ran posterior to the right pulmonary artery (RPA) and became compressed between the RPA and the right main bronchus. Coronary computed tomography angiography identified this specific pulmonary vein anomaly but revealed unremarkable coronary

Establishing a jugular-femoral venous route for recanalization of complicated inferior vena cava in Budd-Chiari Syndrome after transfemoral access failure.

Recanalization of inferior vena cava (IVC) with complete obstruction, old thrombosis or long segmental stenosis/obstruction (complicated IVC) via transfemoral access may fail in patients with Budd-Chiari syndrome (BCS). In this study, 34 consecutive patients with BCS underwent recanalization of complicated IVC occlusion via jugular-femoral venous (JFV) route establishment. BCS with complicated IVC was detected by reviewing preoperative color Doppler ultrasonography or computed tomography (CT) venography, and confirmed by intraoperative venography. Clinical data on technical success, complicati
