Body fluid volumes were measured in conscious spontaneously hypertensive (SHR) and Wistar-Kyoto (WKY) rats from four to 16 weeks of age. Ninety-six plasmapheresis sessions were carried out in 54 patients. The indications to the treatment were the DIC syndrome, positional compression syndrome, pancreonecrosis, acute poisonings, acute hepatic failure, sepsis, and immunocomplex diseases.
