OBJECTIVE: This phase II study assessed the activity and safety of pegylated liposomal doxorubicin (PLD) plus carboplatin in relapsed ovarian cancer (ROC).

The α-formyl pyrrolyl dipyrrin ligands were reacted with PtCl2 in toluene/Et3N under inert reflux conditions to afford unprecedented Pt(II) pyrrolyl dipyrrin complexes bearing a bulky N,N-diethyl ethenamine moiety at the α-position of the appended pyrrole ring. The article reveals for the first time the features of nanoparticle morphology, phase compositions, and their changes when heating FePt and CoPt nanoalloys. Nanoparticles were obtained by co-reduction of precursor solution mixtures with hydrazine hydrate. FePt-Fe3O4 core-shell nanoparticles functionalized with 3,4-dihydroxyphenylacetic acid (DOPAC) and dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA) ligands were synthesized and characterized. We found that the DOPAC ligand enhances the magnetic properties of the FePt-Fe3O4 particles, in comparison with the DMSA ligand, which induces the oxidation of the shell layer that causes a significant reduction of the saturation magnetization. The synthesized magnetic nanoparticles were evaluated for applications in magnetic hyperthermia and magnetic resonance imaging contrast enhancement.

RATIONALE: Compound-specific carbon isotope analysis is an essential technique in environmental, geobiological, ecological, and forensic research. It involves the online conversion of organic compounds separated by gas chromatography (GC) into carbon dioxide before entering a gas source mass spectrometer for carbon isotopic analysis. However, current oxidation interfaces require frequent maintenance or reactor replacement, reducing efficiency and data quality and increasing costs. PURPOSE: Edatrexate (10-Edam) is a methotrexate analog with improved intracellular transport, polyglutamation, and antitumor activity compared to the parent compound. Edatrexate shows schedule-dependent synergism with platinum compounds in preclinical studies. We performed a phase I trial to determine toxicities and establish the maximum tolerated dose (MTD) of edatrexate in combination with carboplatin.
