Previously a protein antigen was identified which was common to members of the species Chlamydia trachomatis and to which antibody could be demonstrated in human sera by two-dimensional immunoelectrophoresis. Production of an unusual collagenous protein was observed in culture of dermal fibroblasts from four patients with Marfan syndrome. The apparent molecular weight of the protein was about 185 kDa after reduction with 2-mercaptoethanol and 175 kDa after limited pepsin treatment. We have studied the structural components of human parainfluenza virus type 4A (PIV-4A) and identified some virus-specific polypeptides by immunoprecipitation with polyclonal and monoclonal antibodies followed by one- or two-dimensional SDS-PAGE. HN polypeptides existed as monomer, disulfide-linked dimer, and disulfide-linked larger oligomer in cells infected with PIV-4A. Interestingly, the nonreduced NP, the nonreduced fusion, and the reduced F1 proteins migrated as doublets. Two F1 polypeptides were derived from different F1 + 2 proteins which migrated separately under nonreducing condition.

The purposes of the present work were: i) to study the positivity indices and compare titers obtained with the indirect immunofluorescence (II), tube precipitation (TP), complement fixation (CF) and double immunodiffusion on agar gel (ID) tests in the sera of 196 patients with paracoccidioidomycosis before treatment, and ii) to compare the initial titers of II with those obtained 1 year or more after treatment.
