Factor Structure and Psychometric Properties of the BIS/BAS Scales in Children and Adolescents With Autism.

The Behavioral Inhibition System and Behavioral Activation System (BIS/BAS) Scales offer a framework for assessing individual differences in sensitivity to reward and punishment-processes theorized to underlie key autism features. Despite widespread use, the psychometric properties of the BIS/BAS Scales have yet to be evaluated in the autistic population. Therefore, this study sought to evaluate the factor structure and psychometric properties of the BIS/BAS Scales in a sample of children and adolescents with autism. Parents of N = 709 autistic youth (Mage [SD] = 11.22 years [3.54]; 75% male)

Psychometric properties of the Turkish version of the Flexible or Rigid Control of Eating Scale in women.

BACKGROUND: Eating control is a central construct in eating disorder research; however, existing measures often insufficiently capture its multidimensional nature and rarely distinguish rigid and flexible regulatory styles. The Flexible or Rigid Control of Eating Scale (FORCES) was developed to address this limitation; however, no culturally adapted instrument assessing rigid and flexible eating control has previously been validated in Turkish populations. METHODS: This study aimed to translate, culturally adapt, and psychometrically evaluate the FORCES in a non-clinical sample of Turkish wom

Psychometric Properties of the Four Square Step Test in Incomplete Spinal Cord Injury.

BACKGROUND: Clinicians require reliable and valid measures to assess dynamic balance and fall risk in individuals with incomplete spinal cord injury (iSCI). Currently, no psychometrically sound measures exist for capturing higher-level balance impairments in this population. The Four Square Step Test (FSST) is a dynamic balance measure assessing a person's ability to step quickly in multiple directions over obstacles. The FSST has been established as reliable and valid for various neurological populations and is particularly suited for individuals who ambulate without assistance. OBJECTIVES:

Adaptation and psychometric evaluation of the revised social constraints scale for partners of adults with cancer.

BACKGROUND: Partners of adults with cancer often experience social constraints that limit their ability to express cancer-related thoughts, feelings, and concerns to their loved ones. However, no validated instrument is currently available in Simplified Chinese to assess partner-specific social constraints. This study aimed to culturally adapt and evaluate the psychometric properties of the Simplified Chinese version of the Social Constraints Scale for partners of adults with cancer (SC-SCS-P). METHODS: The scale was developed using a two-phase approach. In the first phase, items from the exi

Cross-Cultural Adaptation and Psychometric Evaluation of the Social Abuse Scale in the Turkish Context.

This study adapted the Social Abuse Scale into Turkish (SAS-T) and investigated the psychometric properties with 183 adults. Construct validity was tested via correlations with three valid and reliable scales. The Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin value was .944, and Bartlett's test yielded χ2(435) = 6340.62, p < .001. Exploratory factor analysis identified three factors explaining 72.42% of the variance. Cronbach's alpha reliability values for Surveillance/control, Intrusions into privacy and boundaries, Disempowering in social and personal spaces subscales, and total scale were .962, .946, .928, and .978,

Psychometric Evaluation of Ecological Momentary Assessment Items for Mood in a Non-Clinical Sample.

BACKGROUND: Smartphone-based Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA) enables the real-time measurement of emotional states in daily life, reducing recall bias and capturing clinically meaningful fluctuations. However, evidence regarding the reliability and validity of EMA measures remains limited, and validated instruments are scarce, highlighting the need for EMA-specific psychometric evaluation. OBJECTIVE: To assess the reliability, validity, and structural characteristics of a brief 11-item smartphone-based EMA of mood in a non-clinical sample. METHODS: We used data from a randomized contro

Psychometric properties of a short form for the Coping Inventory for Stressful Situations (CISS-SF).

The Coping Inventory for Stressful Situations (CISS) is a widely used measure of coping that was developed to assess three basic coping styles: task-oriented, emotion-oriented, and avoidance-oriented coping. The present study examined the factor structure and psychometric properties (internal reliabilities and temporal stability) of a short form for the CISS (CISS-SF) in a large longitudinal sample of community-based adults who completed the coping measure on 3 separate occasions approximately 1 year apart. The 3-factor model composed of 21 coping items provided acceptable fit to the sample da

Psychometric Validation of the French-Canadian Version of the Tampa Scale of Kinesiophobia for Parkinson's Disease.

BACKGROUND: Kinesiophobia is defined as an excessive and irrational fear of movement and physical activity. Individuals living with Parkinson's disease (PD) can be at risk of developing this phobia, due to the debilitating nature of the disease's motor symptoms such as impaired balance, bradykinesia, rigidity and tremor. This is particularly problematic, as exercise is crucial for people with PD, especially considering its potential to slow down disease progression. The Tampa Scale of Kinesiophobia for Parkinson's disease (TSK-PD) is a valid and reliable instrument for measuring kinesiophobia

Psychometric properties of the Italian version of the Subjective Emptiness Scale in nonclinical and clinical samples.

Subjective emptiness is a state characterized by persistent feelings of unfulfillment and disconnection from the external world. Traditionally associated with borderline personality disorder, subjective emptiness is increasingly recognized as a transdiagnostic construct linked to adverse clinical outcomes and substantial psychosocial impairment. Despite its relevance, specific instruments for assessing this construct remain scarce. To address this gap, Price et al. (2022) developed the Subjective Emptiness Scale (SES), a five-item self-report measure designed to capture the core features of em

Psychometric properties of an Arabic translation of the Breast Appreciation Scale (BrAS) in Lebanese women.

The 9-item Breast Appreciation Scale (BrAS) measures the construct of breast appreciation, posited as a facet of the broader positive body image construct. To date, there has been limited assessment of the psychometric properties of the BrAS across national and linguistic groups. To add to the literature on breast appreciation, we assessed the psychometric properties of an Arabic translation of the BrAS. An online convenience sample of 626 cisgender women (age range = 18-50 years) from Lebanon completed the Arabic BrAS along with additional measures of body image, disordered eating, and psycho
