Cost-Effectiveness Analysis of Patient Self-Management of Warfarin Among Patients With Non-Valvular Atrial Fibrillation.

BACKGROUND: Patient self-management (PSM) is a warfarin management strategy that allows patients to independently adjust their doses. PSM significantly reduces thrombosis events and has been widely implemented internationally. However, adoption of PSM is limited in the United States. This study estimated the cost-effectiveness of PSM compared with available strategies, including anticoagulation management services (AMS) and usual care (UC) for patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF) aged 70 years and older in the United States. METHODS: A cost-effectiveness analysis was performe…

Knowledge and Self-Efficacy Regarding Traumatic Dental Injury Management Among Dutch Dentists: A Cross-Sectional Study.

INTRODUCTION AND AIMS: Traumatic dental injuries (TDIs) represent a significant number of oral region injuries. Despite existing guidelines, studies suggest dentists have insufficient knowledge of TDI management. This cross-sectional study aimed to assess knowledge and self-efficacy regarding TDI management among a sample of dentists in the Netherlands. METHODS: An online questionnaire was distributed to a random sample of 600 dentists selected by the Royal Dutch Dental Association. The questionnaire collected demographic and professional characteristics. To assess self-efficacy, the general

Self-Adaptive Hydrogen Nano-Delivery System in Glaucoma Management: Synergistic Antioxidation and Anti-inflammation Therapeutic Strategy.

Glaucoma-induced optic nerve damage is known to be a leading cause of blindness worldwide, yet current therapies mainly focus on reducing intraocular pressure without paying significant attention to the oxidative stress and inflammation in ocular tissues. Here, we address this issue by developing a self-adaptive two-dimensional nanosheet that enables sustained hydrogen release in the ocular microenvironment. The nanoagent (termed HyNDs) is constructed by modifying the surface of hydrogenated silicene (SiH), a biocompatible nanosheet that self-decomposes to generate hydrogen under physiological

Tailoring an auricular point acupressure self-management program for chronic pain: lessons learned from rural partners.

INTRODUCTION: Rural residents experience a disproportionate burden of chronic musculoskeletal pain and face persistent barriers to nonpharmacologic care. To address these gaps, we developed an evidence-based, app-delivered auricular point acupressure self-management (APA-SM) program and adapted it through sustained engagement with rural partners. This paper synthesizes lessons learned from rural partner engagement and describes how these insights informed APA-SM's design and refinement for rural settings. METHODS: This paper summarizes lessons learned from three complementary approaches used …

Self-Management at Work's Moderating Effect on the Relations Between Psychosocial Work Factors and Well-Being.

Mental health self-management (MHS) strategies may help workers with mental health concerns preserve and enhance their well-being. However, little research has explored how these strategies may help mitigate the effects of negative psychosocial work factors (PWFs) on well-being outcomes. This cross-sectional study investigated (1) the relationship between PWFs and well-being, (2) the association between MHS at work and well-being, and (3) the moderating role of self-management in preventing negative PWFs' deleterious effects. A sample of 896 Francophone workers in Canada completed a questionna…

Protocol for a randomized controlled trial evaluating a digital behavioral self-management intervention for adolescent migraine.

Poor disease self-management is a significant issue in migraine in children and adolescents. Comprehensive treatment for migraine may include pharmacological, non-pharmacological, and biobehavioral interventions as well as engagement in healthy habits. With the annual cost of nonadherence in US health care exceeding $300 billion, self-management of chronic conditions is critical to reducing morbidity. Although barriers to self-management are amenable to behavioral intervention/CBT, many adolescents lack the self-management skills to overcome them on their own, and clinic-based self-management …
