Oculocutaneous albinism (OCA) is a genetic condition associated with impaired visual acuity and increased skin cancer risk. We have seen a Yemenite sister and brother with cutaneous hypomelanotic and pigmented spots and patches, microcornea, coloboma, severe hearing loss and normal karyotypes. Histopathological examinations of the skin showed absent melanocytes in the depigmented areas; in the normal and hyperpigmented skin there was abundant melanotic pigment. Cutaneous reactions to tattoos can be attributed either to trauma or to the exogenous pigment introduced into the skin. Red pigment is associated with a high sensitizing potential and is the most frequently implicated pigment inducing various types of histological reactions. Herein, we describe a patient with red tattoo pigment-induced granulomatous dermatitis that histologically revealed a very rare granuloma annulare-like reaction.

Skin manifestations of idiopathic hemochromatosis (IH) are presented in 100 cases with emphasis on the previously unrecognized high frequency of ichthyosis-like states and koilonychia. In 50 cases with treated and nontreated groups, histological siderosis and clinical skin pigmentation were found to decrease postphlebotomy whereas melanosis, histologically, did not.
