A case of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma with macroglobulinemia is reported. A 48-year-old man consulted our hospital with complaints of dysphagia and sleep apnea. On the first examination, degree III hypertrophy of tonsils, Bence-Jones protein of K-type on urinalysis, and an M-peak in the gamma-glb. Beta-glb areas on fractionation of protein were found. Of serum immunoglobulins, IgM was increased markedly with 3,946 mg/dl and about 30% atypical lymphocytes were noted in the bone marrow. Bilateral tonsillectomy was carried out. BACKGROUND: Treatment of the uninvolved neck in well-lateralized tonsillar squamous cell carcinoma is controversial. We became concerned after a number of contralateral neck recurrences (CNRs) in patients receiving ipsilateral radiotherapy (RT).
METHODS: This is a single center retrospective series including patients with well-lateralized tonsillar cancer treated with ipsilateral neck RT between 2004 and 2011.
RESULTS: We identified 53 patients treated with ipsilateral neck RT during the study period. The rate of CNR was 7.5% (4 of 53). All four patients had p16-positive, T1, N2b, M0 tumors.

However, there exist no consensus guidelines for the pathologic handling of tonsil specimens; gross and/or microscopic evaluation may be used. BACKGROUND: EUS-guided tissue acquisition is a valuable technique. Obstructing lesions of the oropharynx or esophagus may preclude passage of a standard echoendoscope. In the past this has prevented EUS-guided tissue sampling. The recently introduced small-caliber ultrasonic bronchovideoscope (developed for endobronchial ultrasound) may allow EUS-guided FNA in this setting.

OBJECTIVES: To describe the natural course of distant metastases (DMs) following radiotherapy (RT) or chemoradiotherapy (CRT) in HPV(+) oropharyngeal carcinoma (OPC).
