OBJECTIVE: To report a case of pigmented fungiform papillae on the tongue.
CLINICAL PRESENTATION AND INTERVENTION: A 29-year-old female presented with patchy pigmented areas on her tongue of 2 years' duration. Examination of the tongue showed pigmentation confined to the fungiform papillae on the dorsum of the tongue. She was healthy and was not taking any medications and hence a diagnosis of pigmented fungiform papillae was considered. The patient was reassured of the benign nature of this condition and no treatment was given. However, a 6-month follow-up was suggested.

Ergotamine-induced limb ischemia is rare and usually results from an accidental overdose. Several agents, including erythromycin and tetracycline, raise serum ergotamine levels and augment its effect. We present a case of acute lower limb ischemia with characteristic angiography findings of diffuse arterial spasm resulting from use of ergotamine and an erythromycin derivative, clarithromycin. The history of the patient and classic features seen on angiography helped us establish the diagnosis. The patient was successfully treated with low molecular heparin and epidural infusion of bupivacain.

BACKGROUND: Uterine perforation is one of the risks of operative hysteroscopy. Although usually performed alone, laparoscopy has been recommended to aid the surgeon in preventing uterine perforation at the time of operative hysteroscopy.
STUDY DESIGN: Since women suffering from infertility or habitual abortion with known or suspected intrauterine pathologic factors are at low risk for secondary pelvic abnormalities, we have been using ultrasound for control during operative hysteroscopy in these women. One hundred twenty-eight women underwent ultrasound-guided operative hysteroscopy.

Forty-three patients were reviewed between 17 and 113 months (mean of 47 months) following surgery for acquired stenosing tenosynovitis of the fingers or thumbs. 32 (60.4%) of the 53 operations were completely successful.
