A 10 yr old domestic longhair presented with a 2.5 mo history of recurrent hematuria. Abdominal ultrasound examination demonstrated a thickened urinary bladder, abdominal lymphadenopathy, and a thickened and rounded spleen. Cytologic examination of fine-needle aspirate samples revealed Histoplasma capsulatum organisms in the urinary bladder wall and spleen. We herein report a case of rupture of the urinary bladder due to emphysematous cystitis. The patient was an 77-year-old female who was hospitalized for treatment of a cerebral infarction and diabetes mellitus. Emphysematous cystitis was observed during examinations for fever. Secondary neoplasms of the urinary bladder are uncommon, with metastatic tumors being an even rarer event. Urinary bladder torsion in a dog was successfully treated with reduction of the torsion and cystopexy. Urinary bladder torsion is a rare occurrence in dogs and has only been reported once previously. In the previous report, the bladder torsion was iatrogenic. This brief communication describes a case of bladder torsion and subtotal necrosis following reduction and stabilisation of pelvic fractures sustained during a road traffic accident. Proposed aetiology, diagnosis, treatment and postoperative management are discussed.

Retrobulbar metastases from transitional cell carcinoma of the urinary bladder are very rare. This is a case report of palliative radiotherapy successfully reducing acute clinical symptoms such as proptosis, dysfunction of the eye muscles and diplopia in a 50-year-old male patient with a retrobulbar metastasis from transitional cell carcinoma. Radiotherapy quickly ameliorated the proptosis and dysfunction of the eye muscles without side effects. The patient's quality of life was clearly improved.
