Assessment of the efficacy of therapeutic approaches to anal lesions of Crohn's disease is frustrated by the lack of precise definition of its various manifestations. The wrist is one of the most complex articulations in the human body. The distal radioulnar joint (DRUJ) is particularly controversial, enduring as the area least understood with regard to anatomy and pathomechanics. The popular systems of classifying DRUJ disorders are based on etiology and treatment, but this approach has inspired schemes that are cumbersome, redundant, and incomplete. The need for an improved system prompted us to devise a simplified system that is based on the pathomechanics of dysfunction and the mechanical requirements for optimal joint function.

Based on known histopathologic features, as well as clinical and etiopathogenic information, a classification of chronic gastritis is proposed. The following types are described: superficial gastritis, diffuse antral gastritis, postgastrectomy (reflux) gastritis, diffuse corporal atrophic gastritis, and multifocal atrophic gastritis. The histopathologic features are illustrated, and the main clinical features are discussed.

A necrotic adult male filaria was found in sections of a dense, fibrous, subcutaneous nodule excised from below the breast of a 61-year-old woman, resident of Mie Prefecture in Honshu, Japan. The validity of a diagnostic classification scheme for the emotional adjustment reactions of children is tested, and empirical findings are offered in support of a descriptive approach to classification. Results validate clinical observations of four types of children commonly seen for emotional adjustment reactions. Further research is proposed to develop instruments for personality assessment that would be sensitive to these categories.

This paper reports on the causative organism of M. leprae, its mode of transmission, its classification into polar and interpolar forms, its diagnostic methods including skin smear, skin and nerve biopsy as well as on its treatment. The leprosy reaction presents a main complication of leprosy and can be considered as an emergency. Its pathomechanism, symptoms and treatment are mentioned.

The literature is reviewed regarding other aspects of familial cardiac arrhythmias, permitting a classification of the latter.
