A case of cancer arising in a diverticulum of the ascending colon in a 67-year-old male is reported. The 1.5 x 1.0 cm well-differentiated adenocarcinoma protruded from the base of the inverted mucosa of the diverticulum. The surrounding flat colonic mucosa was not involved by the cancerous process. Focal stromal invasion was seen in the subserosal tissue, without association of lymph nodal involvement. This is the third reported case of adenocarcinoma arising in the colonic diverticulum.

Laparoscopy in the emergency setting is a logical extension of this technique. Open laparoscopy is particularly useful in the management of the acute abdomen. In our institution, after a sequential work-out that includes physical examination, laboratory data, plain abdominal roentgenograms and ultrasonography, diagnostic laparoscopy is advocated. We present the laparoscopic treatment of an intestinal obstruction caused by a volvulus around Meckel's diverticulum. The efficacy and safety of the diagnostic and/or therapeutic laparoscopic procedures in the emergency setting are discussed.

Gastric diverticula are relatively rare findings. Although usually asymptomatic, they may cause vague epigastric pain. These lesions may be confused radiologically for gastric ulcers or cancers. Endoscopically, they may be confused for paraesophageal hernias. This report discusses the appearance and evaluation of gastric diverticula.

We review the physiopathology of Zenker diverticulum, its clinic manifestations, diagnosis and treatment, we present two cases registered and treated in the Hospital General de la Zona No. 1 "Gabriel Mancera" of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS), and compare with the results of other authors, emphasizing the utility of the Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) in pre and post operative period, to improve the nutritional condition and diminish the post-operative complications and hospital stancy.

A 49-year-old woman with a 2-month history of mild dysphagia and three episodes of haematemesis was found at endoscopy and barium swallow to have an epiphrenic oesophageal diverticulum containing an ulcerating crypt, but no ectopic gastric epithelium. Diverticulectomy and lower oesophageal myotomy gave a good result.

We report a very rare case of a purulent pleurisy which was revealed to be caused by an oesophageal diverticulum. The pleuro-pulmonary infection probably followed the inhalation of septic material which refluxed from an oesophageal diverticulum into the trachea. This was suggested by a barium swallow which showed the transit of the barium into the trachea during swallowing movements.

Gastric diverticulum is a rare disease, often benign and specifically located in the right paracardial region. The authors report a case of left paracardial diverticulum with gastro-oesophageal reflux. This association should be treated surgically with resection of the diverticulum, after failure of medical treatment.

Review of clinical, radiological and ecographical data observed in 11 cases of diverticulum of urethra in women. Mictional cystourethrography was performed to all patients and acography through suprapubic route to 7 of them.
