The properties of the site labelled by [3H]fluphenazine in membranes prepared from the rat neostriatum were examined using radioligand binding methodology. Binding of [3H]fluphenazine was rapid, saturable and of high affinity (K4 = 0.4 nM). Drug displacement experiments demonstrated that the site labelled by [3H]fluphenazine possessed pharmacological characteristics consistent with those of a D-1 dopamine receptor.

AIMS: Antibiotic allergy labels are common and associated with adverse care. Most people with an antibiotic allergy label are found to be non-allergic on investigation. The aims of this study were to evaluate the burden and accuracy of antibiotic allergy labels at North Shore Hospital and to identify and assess beta-lactam specific allergies, and the potential impact of an inpatient antibiotic allergy service.
METHODS: An evaluation of documented inpatient adverse drug reaction (ADR) labels. Structured assessment of beta-lactam allergies was undertaken using the Austin Health tool.

Antipsychotic medications exert their effects via dopamine antagonism and are widely used off-label among persons with substance use disorders (SUD). INTRODUCTION: Amphotericin B is a polyene antibiotic that is used as an off-label eye drop to treat fungal keratitis. Poor solubility, permeability and high susceptibility to hydrolytic degradation make it challenging to formulate a drug delivery system. Despite its drawbacks, it is a potent antifungal drug against Candida and other fungal species. However, it has not been explored much in ocular drug delivery. Information about drug abuse and dependence from package inserts of centrally acting drugs was evaluated for content. Of the 77 labels reviewed, 40 were opiate agonists, 18 were stimulants, and the remainder fell into other selected categories. The amount of information ranged from 0-66 sentences, with greatest variability found in the opiate agonists (range 9-66). A polarization fluoroimmunoassay for the direct determination of phenobarbital in serum or plasma was developed, optimized, and validated.
