When performing translocated total arch replacement using a frozen elephant trunk, the closure of supra-aortic vessels' stump may be necessary. Herein, we describe the application of a nonabsorbable polymer Hem-o-lok clip for the closure of the stump. The supra-aortic vessels were looped using cloth tapes and clipped using Hem-o-lok clips with gentle traction of cloth tapes. A 69-year-old woman developed back pain was brought to our hospital. She was diagnosed with acute Stanford type B aortic dissection, and had a history of ascending aortic replacement for acute Stanford type A aortic dissection at another hospital 10 years before. OBJECTIVE: To clarify the current status of surgical treatment of acute aortic dissection (AAD) in Japan through the Japan Cardiovascular Database analysis.
METHODS: In total, 7194 patients who underwent surgical treatment for AAD in 2021, including type A (TAAAD) (n = 6416) and type B (TBAAD) (n = 778), were investigated.
