What are the beliefs and perceptions of practice nurses' influence about the uptake of the measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine?: An integrative literature review.

AIM: The aim of this study was to ascertain the beliefs and perceptions of practice nurses' influence about the uptake of the measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine. BACKGROUND: Immunization decision-making for parents is a complex process. Principle health professionals involved in immunization programmes are health visitors, general practitioners, and practice nurses. There is evidence that health visitors and general practitioners influence parental immunization decision-making. However, there is a lack of evidence about the influence of the practice nurse despite their well-documented role i

Effect of an Educational Intervention on Operating Room Nurses' Caring Behaviors During the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Quasi-Experimental Study.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: During outbreaks of acute respiratory infections (eg, COVID-19), operating room nurses face heightened exposure risks due to aerosol-generating procedures. Adherence to evidence-based caring behaviors is critical for both patient and staff safety, yet structured educational interventions in this high-stakes setting remain underexplored. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of a tailored, evidence-based education program on the caring behaviors of operating room nurses during such outbreaks. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A quasi-experimental study was conducted from 2021

HESI admission assessment (A(2)) examination scores, program progression, and NCLEX-RN success in baccalaureate nursing: an exploratory study of dependable academic indicators of success.

In an effort to meet the demand for well-educated, high-quality nurses, schools of nursing seek to admit those candidates most likely to have both timely progression and first-time success on the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). Finding the right combination of academic indicators, which are most predictive of success, continues to be an ongoing challenge for entry-level baccalaureate nursing programs across the United States. This pilot study explored the relationship of a standardized admission examination, the Health Education Systems, Inc. (HESI) Adm

How to perform ultrasound-guided cannulation in adults.

Peripheral intravenous (IV) cannula insertion is one of the most common procedures performed in hospital patients. Ultrasound-guided cannulation is increasingly used by nurses and other healthcare practitioners to ensure successful cannulation, particularly in patients with difficult intravenous access (DIVA). This article provides nurses with foundational knowledge of ultrasound-guided cannulation before they undertake formal training in the procedure and achieve the required competencies to undertake it independently. • Evidence suggests that nurses who use ultrasound-guided cannulation achi

Drugs down the drain: When nurses object.

The authors examine the nursing practice of disposing unaltered controlled substances into public water systems as an issue for nurses concerned with the environmental harm it can cause. A summary of the history of controlled substance management reveals inconsistencies in the interpretation of current regulations that have led to disposal policies that vary by institution, according to a benchmarking survey of regional hospitals. Much attention has been given to the phenomenon of conscientious objection in the context of patient care that conflicts with a nurse's moral integrity. Nurses who a
