BACKGROUND: The purpose of this study is to compare open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) to distal femoral replacement (DFR) for treatment of displaced periprosthetic distal femur fractures.
METHODS: We identified 72 patients with minimum 2-year follow-up following a displaced periprosthetic distal femur fracture: 50 were treated with ORIF and 22 with DFR. Outcomes were assessed with multivariate regression analysis and include Knee Society Scores (KSS), infection rates, revision incidence, and mortality.

PURPOSE: This study was designed to compare the results of clavicle fracture open reduction internal fixation (ORIF) with standard horizontal incision versus vertical incision.

PURPOSE: Distal radius fractures are associated with a high incidence of triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) tears. This study aims to evaluate the status of TFCC after the healing of distal radius fractures, and its clinical significance.

We conducted a study to identify complications associated with open treatment of ankle fractures in patients who tested positive for illicit drugs on urine drug screen (UDS). We hypothesized that patients who had a history of positive UDS and underwent open reduction and internal fixation of an ankle fracture would have a higher incidence of major and minor complications. We retrospectively reviewed the cases of 142 patients who had surgical stabilization of an ankle fracture during a 3-year period. Patients with a history of positive UDS were compared with matched controls with negative UDS.

Fractures of the proximal humerus are uncommon in young patients. Although bilateral fracture of proximal humerus itself is rare, association with epilepsy and electrocution is frequent. Only one case of traumatic bilateral proximal humerus fracture has been reported in the literature. We report a rare case of bilateral traumatic displaced proximal humerus fractures in a 40 years old male patient, which was treated by means of open reduction and internal fixation with proximal humerus locked pates on both sides and obtained a good functional outcome.
