Extraocular sebaceous carcinoma is a rare skin neoplasm that resembles clinically pyogenic granuloma, hemangioma or squamous cell cancer. The clinical and histological findings are described. The differential diagnosis of common tumors of the face should include this rare malignancy.

Kaposiform hemangioendothelioma (KHE) and tufted angioma (TA) are rare tumors mainly occurring in early childhood. AIM: To investigate the accuracy of histological diagnosis of oral hemangioma, oral vascular malformation and oral pyogenic granuloma according to immunohistochemical evaluation of the human erythrocyte-type glucose transporter protein (GLUT-1), and to observe the immunoexpression of this protein in oral varix.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Immunohistochemistry for GLUT-1 was performed in 93 histologically diagnosed cases of oral benign vascular lesions: 17 vascular malformations, 19 hemangiomas, nine varix, and 48 pyogenic granulomas. Descriptive analyses were performed.

Traumatic ulcerative granuloma with stromal eosinophilia (TUGSE) is a chronic, benign, self-limiting lesion of the oral mucosa. Clinically, the ulceration is characterized by the presence of indurated elevated borders and may resemble pyogenic granuloma or even squamous cell carcinoma of the mouth. Pathogenesis of the lesion is unclear. Although it had been suggested that TUGSE may represent a CD30+ lymphoproliferative disorder, this theory is currently not supported by evidence. We are presenting a classic example of TUGSE, its clinical course, differential diagnosis, and treatment.

Retrospective clinical study oral lesions among children aged 0-3 years showed a prevalence of 0.27% among all biopsy files, with mucocele, papilloma, giant cell fibroma, pyogenic granuloma and hemangioma being the most common. This is the first reported case of fatal visceral Kaposi's sarcoma which presented with oral lesions and in which skin lesions were absent throughout the course of the disease. Both clinical and histologic recognition may be difficult because of the similarity of the lesions to pyogenic granuloma.

A clonal deletion (21)(q21.2q22.12) was detected as a sole cytogenetic abnormality in a lobular capillary hemangioma (pyogenic granuloma) of the nasal cavity. This finding supports a neoplastic, rather than reactive, nature for this lesion. To our knowledge, these rare lesions have not previously been studied by cytogenetics.
