IMPORTANCE: Preterm birth (PTB) is the leading cause of infant morbidity and mortality worldwide. It has been suggested that vaginal progesterone (VP) treatment may reduce the recurrence of PTB.
OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the association of VP treatment with prevention of recurrent PTB among patients with a singleton pregnancy.
DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS: This prospective, observational cohort study, set in a public health care system for inner-city pregnant patients, enrolled patients with prior spontaneous PTB (gestational age, ≤35 weeks) receiving VP from May 15, 2017, to May 7, 2019.

BACKGROUND: Avibacterium paragallinarum is the causative agent of infectious coryza in chickens and contributes to significant economic losses in poultry production. Antimicrobial therapy is widely used for disease control; however, increasing antimicrobial resistance (AMR) may compromise treatment efficacy. Long-term surveillance data on AMR in Av. paragallinarum in China remain limited.
RESULTS: A total of 117 Av. paragallinarum isolates were analyzed, including 113 clinical isolates collected from 13 provinces in China between 2013 and 2021 and 4 historical international reference strains.

The objective of this study was to estimate the effect of geographic variation in historic slavery on perinatal outcomes (chronic hypertension, hypertensive disorders of pregnancy [HDP], very preterm birth [VPTB], or very low birth weight birth [VLBW]) among Black people living in states where slavery was legal in 1860; and to test mediation by Black homeownership. We linked data on the proportion of enslaved residents from the 1860 Census to natality data on outcomes (2013-2021) using resident county.
