Medulloblastoma is the most common childhood malignant brain tumor and is considered a minor criterion in the diagnosis of nevoid basal cell carcinoma syndrome (NBCCS). Metastasis of this primitive neuroectodermal tumor is most commonly neuraxial; however, extra-neuraxial metastases have been reported. Extra-neuraxial metastasis to the jaws is a rare occurrence, with only 8 cases previously reported in the literature. The present report documents a unique case of metastatic medulloblastoma to the mandible in a patient with a previous diagnosis of NBCCS.

INTRODUCTION: The purpose of this retrospective clinical study was to evaluate the indications for and the utility of reconstruction plates in the management of benign mandibular pathological lesions. The complications associated with plate use were also assessed.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: The clinical and radiological data of 23 patients (16 males, 7 females) with large, benign mandibular pathologies were evaluated. During operations, reconstruction plates were used to prevent mandibular fracture or to allow for bone reconstruction after segmental or disarticulation resection. The mean follow-up

Leiomyoma is a benign tumor of the smooth muscle that rarely occurs in the mouth as an intraosseous lesion. The purposes of this paper are to: (1) present a case of an intraosseous solid leiomyoma of the mandible in a 13-year-old child, who presented with a well-defined unilocular radiolucency in the right mandible incidentally discovered during a routine dental radiographic examination; and (2) conduct a review of the literature to describe clinicopathological features and management of intraosseous jaw leiomyoma (IJL). A total of 17 articles describing 18 cases of IJL satisfied the selection

We present the first reported case of tonsillar asymmetry secondary to a mandibular osteoma. Computed tomography rather than tonsillectomy for histology prevented the distress and risk of unnecessary surgery, and the patient was managed conservatively.

Leiomyosarcoma (LMS) is a malignancy which very rarely occurs in maxillofacial location, and the course of the disease is not very characteristic. In this case report, we present a 58-year-old female patient with a painless tumor of the left angle of the mandible causing slight asymmetry of the face. She also reported that she observed deterioration in fitting of the lower denture in the oral cavity for several months, which she had used successfully for 5 years. On the basis of clinical tests, histopatological examination, and imaging (CT, MRI, ultrasound, pantomography), the patient was diagno

Ganglioneuromas are benign tumors that are rare in children. They are made up of mature ganglion cells, Schwann cells, and connective tissue. The most common sites involved are the posterior mediastinum, retroperitoneum, suprarenal gland, and neck. They rarely involve bone. We present the case of a seven-year-old girl diagnosed with an intraosseous ganglioneuroma in the mandible. She had been treated for a suprarenal neuroblastoma (stage M) five years earlier. Bone scintigraphy and computed tomography of the mandible showed a lesion in the right mandibular ramus. Many osseous lesions can affec

Juvenile hyaline fibromatosis (JHF) is a rare autosomal-recessive hereditary disease, characterized by gingival hypertrophy, flexion contractures of joints, bone lesions, hyaline deposition in the extracellular spaces of the dermis and soft tissues, stunted growth, and skin lesions such as multiple nodules, tumors and pink, pearly papules. No case of JHF with a mandibular bone involvement, exists in the literature. Bone involvement in JHF is an uncommon finding and distinct solitary lesions in the calvarial bones has been reported by some authors. A 21-year-old male patient was referred to Diy

Odontomas are developmental malformations of dental tissues, and they may interfere with the eruption of the associated tooth. Odontomas have limited growth potential, and their occurrence in the primary dentition is uncommon. This article describes a case of a large complex odontoma in a 5.2-year-old boy that prevented eruption of the mandibular left lateral incisor. The odontoma was surgically removed, routine follow-up was done for more than a year, and no recurrence was seen.

Burkitt's lymphoma is a monoclonal proliferation of B lymphocytes classified histologically as a poorly differentiated lymphocytic lymphoma. The jaw and retroperitoneal structures are the most commonly involved sites. Prognosis is highly dependent on the stage of the disease. In some cases, the first manifestation of Burkitt's lymphoma is in the jaws, and symptoms may be misdiagnosed as infection. Dental radiographs can play an important role in the diagnosis. A case of a peculiar Burkitt's lymphoma involving the mandible that was misdiagnosed as an acute dentoalveolar abscess is presented.

A case is described in which a compound odontoma erupted into the oral cavity in an 8 1/2-year-old girl. The odontoma was initially discovered as a chance radiographic finding 2 years 8 months previously.

The case presented is that of a 26-year-old man who suffered from muscular weakness and aching pains 2 years prior to hospitalization. During that period, a tumor in the mandible was diagnosed. During the neurologic work-up to find the cause of the muscular weakness, the possibility of a metabolic bone disease was raised on the basis of oral findings. The giant-cell nature of the mandibular tumor, with destruction of the periodontium, suggested hyperparathyroidism. Isolated skeletal lymphoma is a rare subtype of lymphoma, and isolated mandibular involvement is extremely uncommon. We describe a case of isolated mandibular lymphoma detected on 18F-FDG PET/CT, presenting as an 18F-FDG-avid lytic expansile lesion in the left hemimandible, with no other pathologic findings in the body.

PURPOSE: Ameloblastic fibro-odontoma (AFO) is a rare benign mixed odontogenic tumor that, after being classified for years as a distinct entity, was redefined as a "developing odontoma" in the 2017 World Health Organization classification. This article presents a unique case of an AFO with an FGFR1 mutation.
METHODS: We present a case of an 8-year-old child with a slowly progressive swelling in the lower left mandible. Next-generation sequencing (TSO500 panel) was performed.
RESULTS: Panoramic radiography revealed an odontogenic tumor; therefore, a transoral enucleation was performed. Pathol

Small cell osteosarcoma (SCOS) is an uncommon variant of osteosarcoma, typically affecting young adults. This case report presents an unusual case of a 35-year-old individual who presented with a growth in the mandible. Microscopically, the lesion was characterised by sheets and plexuses of atypical small round cells with minimal osteoid formation. PAS positivity in the tumour osteoid and SATB2 immunopositive tumour cells led to diagnosis of SCOS.

A 6-year-old castrated male golden retriever dog weighing 32.6 kg was presented for chemotherapy after hemimandibulectomy due to mandibular osteosarcoma. Considering the incomplete surgical excision and metastatic potential, adjuvant chemotherapy was considered. Oral toceranib (2.76 mg/kg, PO, q48h) was initiated after a nodule was palpated at the surgical site 4 wk following hemimandibulectomy. During treatment, the drug dose was decreased due to mildly increased creatinine levels. However, after 1 mo, the dose was increased because creatinine had decreased to previous values. The animal expe
