Dermatomyositis (DM) is an inflammatory disease of unknown origin that manifests as a myopathy associated with typical skin lesions. Association between DM and cancer is frequent (from 18% to 32% according to case series). It was described for the first time by Stertz in 1916 in association with gastric cancer. All histological types and sites of cancer in the general population may be associated with DM. Its association with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is rarely described and the incidence proportion is 1 case of nasopharyngeal carcinoma per 1.000 persons.

Herein, a rare case of synchronous cystoadenolymphoma (Warthin's tumour) of the right parotid gland and the nasopharyngeal space is described. Although Warthin's tumour (WT) of the parotid gland is a common benign pathology, the occurrence of extra-parotid cystoadenolymphoma is rare. Extra-parotid WT have been mainly localised in the submandibular gland, periparotid region and occasionally in other sites, such as the oral cavity, hard palate and nasopharynx. The simultaneous occurrence of an intra-parotid and extra-parotid WT localisation, as in the case presented, is extremely uncommon.

OBJECTIVE: To compare the accuracy of ultrasonography (US) with the current clinical standard of endoscopy for a diagnosis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC).
METHODS: A total of 150 patients suspected of having NPC underwent US and endoscopy. A diagnosis was obtained from an endoscopic biopsy collected from each suspected tumor and was compared with a biopsy obtained from a normal nasopharynx. The diagnostic accuracy of US and endoscopy for NPC was evaluated using receiver operating curve (ROC) analysis performed by MedCalc Software.

OBJECTIVE: The study aimed to assess the usefulness of skull base surgery for large juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma (JNA) with lateral extension to the infratemporal fossa.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the clinicopathological characteristics, diagnosis, treatment outcomes and survival of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and nasopharyngeal multiple primary cancers.
