The biodistribution and binding substances of 95Nb and 182Ta were investigated and compared with other nuclides using tumor-bearing rats and mice. Retention values of 95Nb in tumor tissue were greater than those for 67Ga-citrate, while those for 182Ta were similar to those for 67Ga. The values for these nuclides in the liver and spleen were much smaller than those for 67Ga. However, the values for blood and some soft tissues were much greater than those for 67Ga. Twelve carcinogenicity experiments in NMRI mice from two different breeders were started at three different locations between 1974 and 1979. Tumors occurring in untreated control mice were compiled on the basis of histopathological reports. Of the 629 male and 627 female mice at the beginning of the studies, 614 males and 591 females were evaluated. The remaining animals were unavailable due to autolysis. A copper complex, Cu(II)2(3,5-diisopropylsalicylate)4 (CuDIPS) was found to have anticancer activity in the SJL/J tumor system. Vitamin A and its synthetic analogs (retinoids) are potent agents for control of cell differentiation in many epithelial tissues. METHOD: The tests of antitumor activities in vitro and in vivo were applied to demonstrate the effect of CA.
