We investigate analytically and numerically the interaction of strong electromagnetic waves with unmagnetized pair plasmas. We show that the interaction is governed by a single nonlinearity parameter, ϵ_{p}, defined as the ratio of the wave strength parameter to the wave frequency in units of the plasma frequency (with both frequencies measured in the plasma rest frame prior to the interaction). This paper describes a method that can (1) generate random packing of hard disks in 2D using Monte Carlo simulation, (2) extract the corresponding pair distribution function using normalization by disk line picking probability and (3) convert it to the structure factor. Etiologic and pathologic factors in clinical osteoporosis are reviewed. Techniques were developed to determine total skeletal calcium content with in vivo neutron activation analysis and to induce osteoporosis (in about three months) with low calcium diet, corticosteroid or heparin treatment in experimental animals. Postmenopausal osteoporosis is an area of increasing concern to the gynecologist. Fractures will develop in approximately 15% to 25% of women in their later years and preventive therapy is best aimed specifically at this group. Predicting who will be the ones to sustain fracture is a difficult and imprecise clinical task. The clinical, laboratory, and radiologic methods available for this purpose are reviewed. A rational approach to this problem in today's setting is outlined.

Boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) is one of the best treatment modalities for glioblastoma multiform that could selectively kill the tumor cells. To be successful in BNCT, it is crucial to have enough 10B in the tumor. l-boron phenylalanine (l-BPA) targeted thermo-responsive core-shell nanoparticles (NPs) of chitosan-poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm) were our idea for endocytosis via sialic acid receptors, and selective delivery of 10B to glial cells. Methotrexate (MTX) was chosen as a model drug for evaluating the efficacy of NPs in tumor cells, and BPA was selected for BNCT purposes.

Plasmas produced in a cold-cathode Penning discharge have been studied for possible use as an active ionizing medium in commercial quadrupole mass/energy analyzers for detection of low-energy neutral beams. Two distinct Penning discharge modes have been examined: (1) high-pressure (HP) mode and (2) high magnetic field (HMF) mode.
