OBJECTIVE: To observe the clinical curative effect of Chinese medicine "xiao cuo fang" combined with adapalene gel in the treatment of acne vulgaris.
METHODS: 133 patients with acne vulgaris were divided into treatment group (80 cases) and control group (53 cases) randomly. The treatment group topically applied "xiao cuo fang" combined with 0.1% adapalene gel, the control group topically applied 0.03% retinoic acid cream. OBJECTIVE: Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) anomaly is one of the macroenzymes. Macroenzymes are enzymes in serum that have formed high molecular mass complexes, either by self polymerisation or by association with other serum components. The aim of this study was to identify the properties of LDH anomaly and observe the changes from admission to discharge in a postburn patient with LDH anomaly in his serum.
METHODS: LDH isoenzymes of the serum were electrophoretically fractionated with terylene cellulose acetate supporting media; LDH anomaly was identified by counter immunoelectrophoresis.

METHODS: The chest films of 23 cases of SARS were reviewed in the study. The chest film features and site of lung involvement were studied in early stage, most severe stage and recovery stage. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the curative effect of shuanghuanglian on acute tonsillitis.
METHOD: 95 cases of acute tonsillitis were randomly divided into shuanghuanglian group (treatment group) and penicillin group (control group).
RESULT: The total effective rate in treatment group was 87.5%, hardly less than that (83.0%) in control group (P > 0.05).
CONCLUSION: Shuanghuanglian was an effective medicine in the treatment of acute tonsillitis, in addition, it was effective for virus infection.

The paper presents a case of a 17-year-old girl with type 1 autoimmune hepatitis in whom biochemical, serological and histopathological markers of chronic hepatitis A were observed for the last 4 years. OBJECTIVE: To study the therapeutic effect of Jiayanxiao (JYX) on thyrotoxic exophthalmos.
METHODS: Forty-three patients were divided randomly into two groups, the 31 Patients in the treated group were treated with JYX plus tapazole, and the 12 patients in the control group were treated with prednisone plus tapazole. The therapeutic course of both groups was 3 months. The symptoms, eye signs, thyroxin level, and other routine laboratory parameters as well as the adverse effect of the therapy were observed and compared between two groups.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the clinical effect of Rhinitis Spray (RS) in treating chronic rhinitis.
METHODS: Eighty patients with chronic rhinitis were divided into three groups, and treated with RS, ephedrine and normal saline respectively.
RESULTS: The short-term effective rate in the three groups was 89.3%, 66.7% and 8.0% respectively. RS was effective in alleviating symptoms, increasing IgG level in nasal discharge, improving ventilation of nasal cavity and transfer function of cilia of nasal mucosa obviously.
CONCLUSION: The therapeutic effect of RS in treating chronic rhinitis is good.

BACKGROUND: Thoracic duct dilation has been demonstrated in portal hypertension and hepatic cirrhosis by lymphangiography and laparotomy and at autopsy. It is thought to be secondary to increased hepatic lymph flow and has been described in the absence of ascites or esophageal varices.
