BACKGROUND: During childbirth, many women sustain trauma to the perineum, which is the area between the vaginal opening and the anus. These tears can involve the perineal skin, the pelvic floor muscles, the external and internal anal sphincter muscles as well as the rectal mucosa (lining of the bowel). When these tears extend beyond the external anal sphincter they are called 'obstetric anal sphincter injuries' (OASIS). Solitary fibrous tumor, formerly also referred to as hemangiopericytoma, is a fibroblastic mesenchymal neoplasm of the orbit that rarely metastasizes but has a propensity for local recurrence. This article examined the prevalence of physical and sexual violence among 1,974 married women from 40 low-income communities in Chennai, India. The authors found a 99% and 75% lifetime prevalence of physical abuse and forced sex, respectively, whereas 65% of women experienced more than five episodes of physical abuse in the 3 months preceding the survey. The role of PH in initiation of lithogenesis recurrences after extracorporeal lithotripsy (ECLT) was studied in 206 patients. Renal PH was diagnosed in 35 from 56 patients of group 1 with recurrent lithogenesis after ECLT. All the 35 patients underwent parathyroidectomy and repeated ECLT.
