INTRODUCTION: People living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) have complex physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs following diagnosis and poorer health-related quality of life than the general population. Holistic assessment and care delivery incorporating person-centred principles is required to address these needs. A social skills training (SST) for high-functioning children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) was evaluated in an outpatient setting using a combined between- and within-subject design in which SST and a waiting list condition were compared. OBJECTIVES: The accuracy of colposcopy as the gold standard to manage abnormal screening tests depends on qualification and well defined standards. A recent survey of the European Federation for Colposcopy (EFC) found strong heterogeneity in the practice of colposcopy across Europe. EFC defined four quality indicators (QIs) to enable quality assessment in colposcopy as one tool to harmonize colposcopy standards. We undertook a pilot project to estimate the utility of these QIs for an independent external quality assessment in daily routine colposcopy.

BACKGROUND: In Norway, most people with diabetes are treated by general practitioners. At our own general practice, we wanted to find out whether we were succeeding in following the Directorate of Health's 2009 clinical guidelines on treatment and management of diabetes.

Acute coronary syndromes (ACS), including non-ST-segment elevation (NSTE) ACS, represent a significant source of morbidity and mortality in the United States. To address this widespread, serious health problem, the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association (ACC/AHA) published guidelines for the treatment of NSTE ACS, which include unstable angina (UA) and NSTE myocardial infarction (NSTEMI).
