To compare transthoracic (TTE) and transesophageal (TEE) echocardiography specifically in prosthetic valve endocarditis, 73 consecutive patients (age, 7 to 80 years) with 86 prostheses who had TTE and TEE for suspected endocarditis were analyzed retrospectively. INTRODUCTION: megaprostheses are one of the most widely used treatments in oncological surgery, and one of its major complications is the high rate of infection. Methods: 30 patients underwent implantation of silver-coated Mutars® arthroplasty due to neoplastic disease or periprosthetic fracture. Clinical and analytical monitoring was performed with a minimum of 4 years follow-up. Results: During follow-up 3 infections (10% of patients) were detected, less than publications using non silver-coated prostheses. Conclusion: silver coating in megaprostheses seems to decrease infection rate.

This systematic review aimed to evaluate the dental prosthetic rehabilitation (DPR) in patients after jaw reconstruction with fibula free flap. Four databases were searched from January 2000 to January 2023. Of the 2507 studies identified, 36 observational studies were included. Cancer was the most common surgical indications for jawbone resection with 58.3 % of cases followed by benign tumours which representing 24 %. INTRODUCTION: Implantation of an osseointegrated percutaneous prosthesis provides a reconstruction alternative for thumb amputation without sacrificing donor tissues.
