Hydroperoxide lyase activity was found in sugar beet leaves. Its optimum pH and temperature were, respectively, 6.7 and 22 degrees C. Under these conditions, conversion of linolenic acid 13-hydroperoxide to cis-3-hexenal with a maximum yield of 80% was reached after only 2 min. The stability of cis-3-hexenal was improved by acidifying the reaction medium. Based on these studies, a bioprocess producing green-note aldehydes in a laboratory-scale was achieved.

Selective necrosis of rat testicles is known to be produced by cadmium in subtoxic doses due to impairment of vessel structures. Classical antihistaminics in the same time in order to exclude that the lesion might have been produced by local release of histamine. Antihistaminics did not prevent necrosis. Instead, Clemastine stressed an interstitial testicular haemorrhage a bit. Methyldosulepine administered with calcium could decrease the vascular permeability because haemorrhage was almost lacking. The finding supports an idea of possible interaction between calcium and cadmium ions.

Intramuscular administration of dibekacin or gentamicin to Fischer rats at doses of 10, 20 and 40 mg/kg for 11 days gave polyuria, enzymuria and cytauria. These changes were suppressed completely or partially by the simultaneous administration of glucarolactam sodium or potassium salt. The ameliorating results were supported by serum and histopathological analyses on day 12. A rise in BUN and serum creatinine levels was partially or completely suppressed and histopathological scores were improved by co-administration of glucarolactam salts.
