BACKGROUND: Colchicine is a main alkaloid present in bitter and sweet variety of colchicum (Colchicum luteum Baker), which have been reported to possess anti-rheumatic, anti-gout, and anticancer potential. Colchicum is an important ingredient of several Unani and Herbal formulations. Quantification of colchicine will play a great role in quality control of these formulations. Hence, a high-performance thin layer chromatographic (TLC) method has been developed for the analysis of colchicine in Unani formulations of various dosage forms such as hubb (tablet) and capsules.

SnO2 thin films were fabricated using low-pressure thermal chemical vapor deposition. The results of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy revealed that the SiO2 layer with an O1S-binding energy of 531.2 eV was formed before the SnO2 layer with an O1S-binding energy of 530.5 eV was formed. The thinner the better: SnO2 sheets that are five atomic layers thick are an efficient catalyst for the oxidation of CO. Dye-adsorbing ZnO thin films were prepared on ITO films by electroless deposition. The films were formed in an aqueous solution containing zinc nitrate, dimethylamine-borane, and eosin Y at 328 K. Exchanging the original organic ligands of colloidal CdSe quantum dots (QDs) with inorganic metal chalcogenide SnS(4) ligands resulted in absorption peak redshifts and complete photoluminescence (PL) quenching in QD solids.
