We present a case of chylous effusion (CE) occurring in a patient with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), an observation which has rarely been reported. Therefore, CLL should be added to the differential diagnosis of nontraumatic chylothorax. CE in CLL can be successfully managed by irradiation of the mediastinum.

Thoracic duct injuries are very rare due to its protected location. Duct is most often injured in polytraumas and during operations in his vicinity. Treatment is primarily conservative, based on a low-fat diet or parenteral nutrition and adequate chest drainage. If the conservative management fails, a surgical duct ligation via thoracotomy, or more conveniently thoracoscopic approach, is necessary. The presented case reports describe the surgical treatment of isolated injury of the thoracic duct via thoracoscopic approach.

Chylothorax and chylopericardium secondary to thrombosis of the superior vena cava and the innominate and subclavian veins were diagnosed in a patient with Behçet's syndrome. Immunosuppressive treatment, diet, and underwater seal drainage led to a diminished volume of pleural fluid and pericardial fluid and to a diminished concentration of triglyceride in them; pleurodesis with tetracycline was then performed.

Pleural effusion is rare during neonatal period with an estimated prevalence of 0.06%. It may sometimes uncommonly be secondary to pulmonary sequestration. Besides common conditions like hydrops fetalis, congenital heart disease, congenital chylothorax, chromosomal abnormalities; pulmonary sequestration should also be considered while evaluating the cause for neonatal pleural effusion.
