The purpose of our study was to evaluate the clinical efficacy of a new self-expanding metallic endoprosthesis in the management of distal colonic obstruction in seven patients. CONCLUSION. The Wallstent enteral endoprosthesis is safe and effective in relieving obstruction in patients with resectable colonic tumors. Once in place, the Wallstent permits planned elective surgery and avoids a temporary stoma. In addition, the Wallstent can palliate patients with obstruction due to advanced colonic neoplasms. Cronkhite-Canada syndrome is generally accepted as being a benign disorder. We herein present a 66-year-old-male patient with Cronkhite-Canada syndrome who had a carcinoma of the sigmoid colon along with multiple colonic polyps, which included juvenile-type polyps, adenomas, and hyperplastic polyps. In the world literature, there have been 34 cases of Cronkhite-Canada syndrome associated with colorectal carcinoma among the 280 reported cases of this syndrome. A 28-year-old Japanese man was admitted to our institute because of sharp anal pain and a mass that prolapsed from the anus after defecation. After spinal anesthesia for emergency operation, the mass spontaneously withdrew into the anus and the pain disappeared. Surgery was postponed. The effect of a 20-min intravenous infusion of prostaglandin E2 (0-08 mug kg-1 min-1) or of prostaglandin F2 alpha (0-8 mug kg-1 min-1) on the segmental pressures in the sigmoid colon was studied in 12 patients. Prostaglandin F2 alpha had no measurable effect, but prostaglandin E2 significantly inhibited sigmoid motility.

BACKGROUND: Colorectal cancer ranks third in global cancer-related mortality, often due to metastases to liver and lungs. Ovarian metastases are less common, accounting for 3.6% to 7.4% of cases. In contrast, mature ovarian teratomas are frequently benign. Tumor-to-tumor metastasis is a rare phenomenon, with a limited number of documented cases. Three cases of mature ovarian teratomas metastasizing from different cancers have been reported. This report focuses on a case of tumor-to-tumor metastasis from sigmoid colon adenocarcinoma to a mature ovarian teratoma.

We present a 26-year-old male patient who presented with complete bowel obstruction and peritonitis. His abdominal X-rays showed grossly distended large bowels with air-fluid levels.
