Many patients with eczematous dermatitis need continued care in case of a recurrent or persistent skin condition and potential adverse effect of medications. Allergic contact dermatitis should be considered in the differential diagnosis of eczematous dermatitis especially in a patient whose dermatitis is persistent despite appropriate therapies. Patch testing is an essential investigation in patients with persistent eczematous eruption when contact allergy cannot be ruled out. The purpose of this study was to determine the frequency of contact allergy in patients with eczematous dermatitis in

Contact dermatitis is a common condition that can be categorized as irritant dermatitis and allergic contact dermatitis. Although each of these conditions may have a similar presentation, allergic contact dermatitis is immunologically mediated, whereas irritant contact dermatitis is not. Contact dermatitis can be acute, subacute, or chronic, and each of these phases may progress into the next. Almost any substance may induce a cutaneous reaction, depending on its concentration, the duration of contact, and the condition of the contacted skin. It is estimated that there are more than 6 million

CONTEXT: Studies on occupational skin diseases in workers of the automotive industry are few.
AIM: To investigate the prevalence of occupational skin diseases in workers of the automotive industry.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Between September and December 2011, a total of 405 workers from the automotive repair industry in Diyarbakır were interviewed. They were active workers in the repair industry who had been employed for at least six months. Business owners, sellers of spare parts and accounting officers were not included. The employees were examined at their workplaces and the working conditi

Airborne allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) is a delayed, T-cell-driven inflammatory reaction that usually develops gradually in occupational settings, so encountering an acute presentation in the emergency department is uncommon. Severe, sudden exacerbations mimicking acute allergic emergencies are uncommon and can complicate emergency department (ED) evaluation. We describe a 45-year-old hospital cleaning staff member with a five-year history of intermittent dermatitis who presented with abrupt, diffuse pruritus, marked facial swelling, and vesiculopapular eruptions shortly after working with

Eczema, the commonest disorders afflicting the hands, is also the commonest occupational skin disease (OSD). In the dermatology outpatient departments, only the severe cases are diagnosed since patients rarely report with early hand dermatitis. Mild forms are picked up only during occupational screening. Hand eczema (HE) can evolve into a chronic condition with persistent disease even after avoiding contact with the incriminated allergen / irritant. The important risk factors for hand eczema are atopy (especially the presence of dermatitis), wet work, and contact allergy. The higher prevalence

BACKGROUND: Hair dye use frequently induces allergic contact dermatitis, and on rare occasions induces immunoglobulin E-mediated immediate urticaria, anaphylaxis, and asthma. The effects of hair dye use during pregnancy on offspring have been studied for carcinogenicity, but not for development of allergies. This study aimed to assess the association between hair dye use during pregnancy and allergic disease in children at 3 years old.
METHODS: Data of 77,303 participants from the Japan Environment and Children's Study, which is a prospective birth cohort recruited from January 2011 to March

Hand dermatitis is a widespread problem among cleaners. In most cases, it is caused by a combination of wet work and contact with irritants, which can result in irritant (toxic) contact dermatitis. In some cases, the irritant contact eczema then evolves into allergic contact dermatitis, although not all cases of allergic contact dermatitis are preceded by irritant contact dermatitis. This mini-review proposes a two-step diagnostic algorithm based on patch testing, which can be used if allergic contact dermatitis is suspected in cleaning workers. As a first step, we recommend performing the DKG

Contact urticaria appears either as wheal and flare reactions or as dermatitis resembling other types of contact dermatitis. A nonimmunologic form of contact urticaria is seen more frequently than the allergic form of the disease in experimental conditions. However, the immunologic form of contact urticaria is clinically more important. It is often seen in atopic persons working in the food industry or in kitchens. We can prevent many cases of occupational anaphylactic hand eczema by choosing proper jobs for atopic persons. Especially handling food seems to produce hypersensitivity reactions i

In the bounds of investigating the etiological factor in the onset of allergic contact dermatitis, with a special review of the professional etiology and the localization of face manifestations, we have placed a special emphasis on the forming of special batteries of allergens which would to a greater extent, cover a great number of specific professions and a wide diapason of unprofessional everyday activities of our climate. Our aim was to determine the incriminating contacts within a complex material such as a final product, in which the incriminated allergen is often and almost always prese

A series of 230 patients with skin disease and 66 men with no skin disease were tested with a battery of nine common sensitizing substances. Among the patients the incidence of positive reactions was 36%, whereas in the control series it was 7·6%. The most common sensitizing agent was potassium dichromate. The incidence of chromate sensitivity was four times greater among assemblers than among men in other jobs. Hexavalent chromate was found on the surface of the nuts, bolts, screws, and washers used by the assemblers. The source of the chromate was a chromate dip which is used as a passivator

BACKGROUND: Titanium, a rare allergen tested within a designated metal series, has a unique exposure profile, warranting evaluation in specific clinical scenarios. Our study aims to characterise the clinical features of patients with Titanium sensitisation.
METHODS: A retrospective cohort analysis was conducted on 255 patients patch tested with the metal series at a tertiary contact dermatitis clinic between 2012 and 2024. Clinical characteristics and sensitisation patterns were evaluated.
RESULTS: The metal series was performed in several main indications: occupational scenarios, exposure t
