Urethral stone is a rare clinical entity and usually encountered in men with urethral stricture or diverticulum. They are exceedingly rare in females secondary to the low incidence of vesical calculi and short urethra. We report a very rare case of a primary giant calculus in a urethral diverticulum of a female.

Nine cases of Meckel diverticulum presenting with intussusception were reviewed and correlated clinically, radiologically and pathologically. The appearance of intussuscepted Meckel diverticulum by small bowel series is not specific. However, by CT, a central fat density surrounded by a thick collar of soft tissue was noted in one case correlating well with the gross pathologic appearance. The pathologic material in all our cases suggests that this CT appearance is characteristic of an inverted Meckel diverticulum.

Cases of symptomatic Meckel's diverticulum treated surgically on an emergency basis during the last decade are reviewed. A series of 18 patients were divided into two groups depending on the presence or absence of ectopic tissue in the diverticulum. Group 1 consisted of five patients (28 percent) without ectopic tissue, and Group 2 consisted of 13 patients (72 percent) with ectopic tissue (8 gastric ectopia, 2 pancreatic ectopia, and 3 both gastric and pancreatic ectopia). The authors report a case of giant Meckel's diverticulum, presenting as a subumbilical abdominal mass, associated with an infectious picture and anemia in a 16 month-old boy. Epidemiologic, pathologic and clinical features of this rare disorder are reviewed as are the diagnostic means. The differential diagnosis with other cystic masses of the umbilical area (omphalo-mesenteric duct cyst, urachal cyst, mesenteric cyst, duplication) is discussed.

Giant colonic diverticulum is an uncommon complication of diverticulosis, with only 52 previously reported cases. Complications secondary to the giant air cysts occurred in only six instances, and all but one occurred in the sigmoid colon. Two additional cases are described, presenting atypical location, age, and complication by pneumoperitoneum.

A total of 155 cases of Meckel's diverticulum were analyzed: 122 were uncomplicated as opposed to 33 that were complicated. Resection of all uncomplicated diverticula had a course free of difficulty, while there was one death in the cases with complicated diverticula as a result of peritonitis after perforation of the diverticulum. A case of Meckel's diverticulum is presented in a 17-month-old girl following technetium pertechnetate radioisotope scan. The patient had presented 10 months earlier with the first episode of passing bloody stools. A Meckel's diverticulum was resected during surgery. Reasons for the original false-negative examination are presented.

Five cases illustrating rare roentgenographic manifestations of Meckel's diverticulum are presented. Small bowel studies in 2 patients demonstrated a mucosal pattern identifiable as heterotopic gastric rugae, and in 2 other cases peptic ulcers were seen within the diverticulum. In 1 patient the diverticulum located in the right upper quadrant contained calcified enteroliths, and in another patient the diverticulum had fistulous communication with the appendix.
