Changing Educational Differentials in Female Sterilization.

CONTEXT: Female surgical sterilization is widely used in the United States. Educational differentials in sterilization are large, but poorly understood. Improved understanding of these differences is important to ensure that all women have access to the full range of contraceptive methods. METHODS: Data from the National Survey of Family Growth (1973-2015) from 8,100 women aged 40-44 were used to describe trends in sterilization and other contraceptive methods by educational attainment. Demographic standardization was employed to examine how compositional changes in marital status and age at

What and when: a Delphi study identifying AI competencies and learning objectives for medical students.

INTRODUCTION: As Artificial Intelligence (AI) becomes embedded in clinical practice, medical graduates must be prepared to use it competently and critically. AI competencies and learning objectives (LOs) for medical students are needed. This study identifies these competencies and LOs for undergraduate medical education (UGME), particularly following the public release of large language models in 2022. METHODS: A four-round modified Delphi process was conducted between May 2024 and January 2025. The panel included medical students (n = 14) and medical professors (n = 2) in the first three rou

Minor Forms of Parental Maltreatment and Educational Achievement of Immigrant Youths in Young Adulthood: A Longitudinal Study.

Parental hostility and emotional rejection-or aggregated as general harsh family interactions with parents-have received little research attention due to such parent-child interactions being counted as minor forms of parental maltreatment and regarded as being less harmful. However, recent research showed that these minor forms of parental maltreatment on youth development are far from negligibility on account of their frequency, chronicity, and incessancy. In this longitudinal study, we investigated how parental hostility, emotional rejection, and harsh family interactions with parents of in

Economic Implications of Audiology Student Debt for Workforce Sustainability.

Rising educational costs and comparatively modest early-career wages have created a structural return-on-investment problem for the Doctor of Audiology (AuD) degree, with implications extending beyond individual finances to workforce sustainability and access to care. This article examines the economic burden of audiology training within the broader context of U.S. graduate student debt, using debt-to-income (DTI) analysis to compare early-career AuD professionals with speech-language pathology peers under otherwise identical financial assumptions. Findings indicate that AuD graduates carry su

Cognitive reshaping and resurgence of humanness: restructuring the medical education continuum in the era of generative AI.

BACKGROUND: Generative artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming medical education. While AI enhances personalized learning, its integration raises concerns regarding "cognitive outsourcing," automation bias, and erosion of independent clinical reasoning. AIM & METHODS: This narrative review critically evaluates the cognitive and educational impacts of generative AI and proposes structural realignment across the medical education continuum. We synthesized literature from major databases (PubMed, Scopus) focusing on AI's intersection with clinical reasoning and humanistic competenci

Improving chairside ergonomic behavior in postgraduate dental students through a structured interprofessional education module: a quasi-experimental study.

BACKGROUND: Inadequate ergonomic methods in dentistry put practitioners under disproportionate biomechanical strain, which increases the risk of musculoskeletal problems over the course of a working career. Because they carry out intricate, drawn-out chairside operations without further assistance, clinical postgraduate dentistry students constitute a high-risk population. This study assessed whether postgraduate dentistry students' ergonomic knowledge, attitudes, and chairside behavior might be quantitatively improved by an organized interprofessional education (IPE) program. METHODS: A quas
