Financial Toxicity Among Patients With Traumatic Finger Amputation: A Retrospective Study.

BACKGROUND: Patients face increasing financial toxicity (FT), defined as emotional distress due to the cost of medical treatment. However, little is known regarding FT in the context of upper extremity trauma. METHODS: We surveyed patients who sustained traumatic finger amputation (October 21, 2011-January 1, 2021). We collected patient-reported financial distress using the Comprehensive Score for Financial Toxicity (COST-11), where a lower score indicates worse FT. We also collected data of patients' perceptions regarding the costs of their treatment. We used linear regression to assess pati

Cost of conducting Measles-Rubella vaccination campaign in India.

A Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccination campaign was launched in India in a phased manner in February 2017 to cover children aged 9 months to 15 years. As evidence on campaign vaccine delivery costs is limited, the delivery cost for MR campaign from a government provider perspective was estimated in four Indian states, namely, Assam, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh. Costs were calculated in top-down and bottom-up approaches using data collected from 84 sites at different administrative levels and immunization partners in the study states from August 2019 to March 2020. All costs were p

Can Individual Attitudes toward Aging Predict Subsequent Physical Disabilities in Older Taiwanese Individuals? A Four-Year Retrospective Cohort Study.

Individual attitudes toward aging have been regarded as a modifiable risk for physical disability. However, longitudinal cohort studies have … have higher risk of physical disabilities. The older adults who expressed a willingness to receive financial support from their adult children were reported to have a lower risk of mobility limitations (adjusted odds ratio (aOR): 0.67, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.50-0.90), while those who did not want to assist with child care as grandparents had a higher risk …

After each data collection round, an evaluation survey was held amongst its participants. The evaluation survey data was used to explain the use of feedback reports by studying the reasons to participate with Qualiphy with correlation measures and logistic regress

The South African experience of conservation and social forestry outreach nurseries.

Outreach nurseries are favored conservation and social forestry tools globally, but, as with many integrated conservation and development programs (ICDPs), they do not always produce anticipated results. A synopsis of the experience of South African practitioners is provided in this study of 65 outreach nurseries. South African outreach nurseries frequently include financial objectives, creating additional challenges in simultaneously attaining conservation and socioeconomic goals. Progress was hindered by biophysical problems (e.g., lack of water, poor soils, etc.) as well as the harsh socioe

Counting the costs: occupational injuries and illnesses among auto-artisans.

Although assessing the cost of workplace injuries and illnesses as part of occupational health and safety management is important in ensuring workplace safety, the issue is generally neglected among informal auto-artisans in Ghana. This paper examines the costs of occupational injuries and illnesses in terms of productivity, financial and social aspects of selected auto-artisans who service or fabricate auto parts in Suame 'Magazine' in Kumasi, Ghana. Employing a descriptive cross-sectional design, data were collected from 957 auto-artisans selected through a multistage cluster sampling method
