Periosteum eversion technique versus subpedicle connective tissue graft technique for root coverage of gingival recessions: A randomized split-mouth study.

INTRODUCTION: The connective tissue graft (CTG) with pedicle flap as subpedicle CTG technique (SPCTGT) is considered the gold standard technique in the treatment of gingival recessions. The aim of this study was to compare periosteum eversion technique (PET) with SPCTGT for root coverage of gingival recessions. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Ten patients having bilateral gingival recessions of Miller class I and II were selected. The left or right side was randomly assigned into PET group and SPCTGT group. Before and after 1 year of surgery, depth of gingival recession (DGR), width of keratinized gin…

A Two-Step Surgical Approach with Flattening of the Root Surface to Treat Localized Gingival Recessions Affecting Mandibular Incisors: A Case Series Report.

Root coverage in the anterior mandible is challenging due to a thin gingiva, shallow vestibule, and/or high frenulum. This case series reports on the flattening of the root surface to create a new emergence profile conceived with a two-step surgical approach aimed at providing more space for the graft, increasing the thickness of the gingival margin, and getting extra soft tissue in the open area of the recession. A total of 10 patients with recessions affecting the mandibular incisors were treated to evaluate this two-step approach, which included odontoplasty of the root followed by a connec

Treatment of gingival recessions by combined periodontal regenerative technique, guided tissue regeneration, and subpedicle connective tissue graft. A comparative clinical study.

BACKGROUND: Many surgical techniques have been shown to be effective in correcting gingival recessions by covering the exposed root with soft tissue; however, the thickness of the gingival tissue over the root surface probably plays an important role in preventing the recurrence of tissue recession. The aim of the present study was to compare the results of a mucogingival bilaminar technique (BT), guided tissue regeneration (GTR), and a combined periodontal regenerative technique (CPRT) in achieving root coverage and increasing the gingival thickness 1 year after surgical treatment. METHODS: …

Immediate implant placement, reconstruction of compromised sockets, and repair of gingival recession with a triple graft from the maxillary tuberosity: a variation of the immediate dentoalveolar restoration technique.

Immediate implant placement into compromised sockets is challenging for clinicians. The 3-dimensional implant position, status of the buccal bone wall, and regeneration of the soft tissue contours all affect adequate esthetic and functional results. This clinical report presents a treatment protocol (a variation of the immediate dentoalveolar restoration concept) consisting of immediate implantation and the reconstruction of the buccal bone wall and gingival recession in a single procedure with a triple graft (cancellous and cortical bone and soft tissue graft).

The effect of lingual orthodontic appliances in the dimensional reduction of labial gingival recession and root prominence caused by wire syndrome in the anterior mandible: a multicenter study.

OBJECTIVE: Wire syndrome or X-effect/twist-effect describes undesired long-term tooth movements following fixed retainer placement. Since it includes root torque changes that might cause gingival recession, those situations often require periodontal, orthodontic, and conservative treatment. The aim of this study was to assess the effectiveness of fixed orthodontic treatment with completely customized lingual appliances (CCLAs) and continuous archwires for a clinically significant reduction in the dimensions of labial gingival recessions in the anterior mandible, caused by wire syndrome, in a g…
