Persistent Palmar Rash Associated with Teprotumumab Treatment.

A 77-year-old male developed bilateral palmar rashes during treatment of active thyroid eye disease with teprotumumab that persisted even after completing treatment. This pattern of palmar rash and its persistence following completion of the treatment course has not been previously reported. The presentation highlights the importance of monitoring adverse effects during treatment with teprotumumab, as some may persist beyond treatment.

Chronic hand eczema: Common questions and practical recommendations from the EADV Contact Dermatitis Task Force.

Chronic hand eczema (CHE) is a prevalent and complex skin condition that can significantly affect patients' quality of life (QoL) and social and occupational functioning. In this review structured as questions and answers format, we aimed to target the main topics of CHE including etiopathogenetic-epidemiologic background, clinical findings, differential diagnosis/diagnostic assessment, course-prognosis and scoring, impact on QoL and psycho-socio-economic status, prevention and treatment. CHE may result from irritant contact dermatitis (ICD), allergic contact dermatitis (ACD), atopic dermatiti

Hand eczema.

Hand eczema is a highly prevalent skin disease and one of the most common work-related disorders. In up to two-thirds of individuals affected by hand eczema, the disease becomes chronic and results in substantial personal and occupational disability. Manifestations of chronic hand eczema vary in severity and appearance over time, and people with eczema typically experience itch, pain, and a burning sensation. The pathophysiology of chronic hand eczema is multifactorial. Major risk factors are current or past atopic dermatitis and excessive or prolonged exposure to irritants or allergens. Based

A comparison between self-reported hand eczema and self-reported signs and symptoms of skin lesions indicating hand eczema.

BACKGROUND: The accuracy of self-reported hand eczema (HE) is currently unclear, and it is unknown how well self-reported signs and symptoms of skin lesions that indicate HE correlate with self-reported HE. OBJECTIVES: To correlate self-reported signs and symptoms of skin lesions on the hands with self-reported HE, to assess the sensitivity and specificity, and to suggest a definition for HE. METHOD: Seven hundred ninety-five (47.8%) of 1663 invited healthcare workers completed a digital questionnaire, and were asked to report if they experienced HE or any of the following skin signs/symptom

Occupational Localized Cutaneous Argyria With Pseudo-Ochronosis in a Jeweler.

A case of localized argyria in a 36-year-old female jeweler is described who presented with 2 discrete and asymptomatic bluish-black pigmented macules on the pulp of her left middle finger. A skin biopsy from both lesions demonstrated deposition of brown/black pigmented granules along the basement membrane zone of eccrine glands, blood vessels, nerves, and the dermo-epidermal junction fully in keeping with silver deposition. In addition, there was yellow-brown deposition seen within the interstitial dermis mimicking an early form of ochronosis, so called "pseudo-ochronosis." This latter featur

Predictive Model for Allergic Contact Dermatitis in Patients With Hand Eczema.

INTRODUCTION: Patch tests are only indicated for hand eczema when it is diagnosed as chronic. A positive reaction of current relevance requires a change in treatment strategy. Knowing which clinical factors are associated with current relevance would allow tests to be performed sooner. OBJECTIVE: To develop a model for predicting currently relevant patch test positivity in patients with hand eczema only. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Retrospective study of patients with hand eczema only. We collected data on age, sex, time since onset, occupation, and history of atopic dermatitis. We built a predict

Acquired dermal melanocytosis on the hand of a pediatric patient.

BACKGROUND: Dermal melanocytosis is a group of pigmentary dermatological diseases associated with melanocytic proliferation, which are classified based on their number and depth at the level of the dermis; they may be congenital or acquired. CASE REPORT: An 11-year-old male patient with no history of importance for the current condition started 5 years ago with a dark macula in the left hand palm, which was asymptomatic but grew gradually. On physical examination, dermatoses affecting the left palm, palmar face of proximal phalanges of the third, fourth and fifth fingers, characterized by the

Water-induced dermatosis: Aquagenic keratoderma. A case report.

Aquagenic keratoderma is a benign entity that is characterized by producing whitish or translucent papules a few seconds after contact with water. We present the case of a 16-year-old patient with multiple asymptomatic confluent papules that appeared on both hand palms after contact with water and which disappeared after drying. The histopathological findings in a skin biopsy after water exposure showed changes in the superficial layers of the stratum corneum and dilatation of sweat gland ducts. This entity of unknown etiology has been related to neuronal and eccrine gland dysfunction. Recentl

Trends in nail services may cause dermatitis: not your mother's nail polish.

The advent of acrylate-based nail treatments-known as gels, dips, or shellac-has resulted in an uptick in nail-related acrylate allergy. Acrylate dermatitis related to nail services can affect both clients and technicians and can present on the hands, fingers, and wrists, as well as on the face and neck. Nail acrylate allergy occurs from sensitization to acrylate monomers; 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA), 2-hydroxypropyl methacrylate, ethyl cyanoacrylate, and others have been identified as relevant allergens. Patch testing with HEMA and ethyl cyanoacrylate can screen for nail acrylate aller

A new subtype of pachydermodactyly: unilateral pachydermodactyly transgrediens.

Pachydermodactyly describes a rare condition of localized fibromatosis, usually symmetrically affecting the interphalangeal joints of both hands. We describe a case of a new subtype of pachydermodactyly in a 14-year-old boy, which we term 'unilateral pachydermodactyly transgrediens'. This atypical pattern is caused by specific localized mechanical manipulation of the hands. This condition contributes to the completely indolent spectrum of pachydermodactyly, and usually does not need therapy. Therefore it is essential not to misinterpret it as an inflammatory state such as juvenile idiopathic a
